Metallica, simply because more people are fans of them and their kind of music pertains to a wider group of people.

I prefer Metallica, they're my favorite band, but i also like Iron Maiden, mostly because of the lyrics. Steve Harris is one of my favorite musicians btw.
They're both on the same level, but Metallica gets the nod. Few other bands are still as popular as Metallica is, and it seems that the band's popularity grows every year, especially since the launch of their own Guitar Hero.
