Firstly you must understand where I am coming from, I am a strong Presbyterian Christian and I also have a deep appreciation for philosophy and science. My standpoint is from assuming believers go on to heaven and live forever. I also believe that whatever size the universe is, it is not infinite.
The Paradox: If we live forever, how can their be a point? If the universe ends, then how will there be a point? If the life span of the universe is infinity, and the universe is finite, how will humanity last forever? And then if humanity ends, what is the point of it existing at all?
if the life span of the universe is infinity, and the universe is finite,
I think I remember that one theory is that the universe is expanding and then shrinking. This works by the matter of all the entire universe first being in one spot, then the vacancy of where nothing is is like a vaccuum, it seeks equilibrium, once it expands far enough, that pull is less, and gravity pulls it all into one point again, which then restarts the process.
how will humanity last forever?
Simple, it wont.

I just can't bring myself to beleive in some ultimate being that created everything, thus, I don't believe we live forever.
if humanity ends, what is the point of it existing at all
What is the point of thought, of emotions, of anything? There is no single definition, it is what you wish it to be. Life is a phenomenon, unexplainable how it came to be, and unless we can look at the start, we will never know.
I also believe that whatever size the universe is, it is not infinite.
How'd you come to that conclusion?

I'm not sure how this is a paradox. So.. if the universe or life itself doesn't have a 'oint' or a purpose, it's contradictory to it's own existence? I'm not sure I agree.

Current scientific data shows that the universe is limited in size and is growing and the rate of growth is slowing, which leads scientists to believe it will reach a maximum size and then start shrinking.

Ah. When I made that question I was thinking more time-wise. I read the OP a couple of times before thinking about what my reply was going to contain and was thinking about the second part of the post instead of the first, which was the one I quoted. Sorry for the confusion.
