Child's Play If you haven't heard about this organization, I strongly suggest you check it out. Child's Play is a charity formed in 2003 by the authors of Penny Arcade. Each year, the charity donates thousands of video games, systems, and movies to children's hospitals around the globe. The donations are generally used through a "check-out" system within the hospitals, where children are allowed to use the items on time slots. The more people who donate, the more games that are available for these children. Even if you yourself are unable to donate, spread the word and let people know about the amazing things that this charity is doing. Things like this can help us throw off the image of malevolence that tends to follow gamers in mainstream culture and show the world that we are decent human beings just like the rest of them.

You make it sound that we should only do this to improve the image of gamers, not even to help the children Xd

That was a big part of the original intent of the charity, actually... Read their about page, the original post is down at the bottom.
Regardless of why one donates, it's a great cause to donate to. I've been making it a point to donate something for the past two years, even if I couldn't give all I would like to be able to. Reading some of the letters they have posted does tug on one's heartstrings.
