i prefer rpg... especially mmorpg's just because of the interaction. i get easily bored with most games, but rpg's tend to have the best storylines, and are designed to keep you interested for a long period of time.

I like strategy gams better just because of AGE-OF-WAR, and territory war. Thesen games are the second and third best games on ArmorGames I think.

strategy games are also pretty fun, i do like turret defense games and stuff like that, although after a while they get repetitive =\\

what's your favorite game category. I personally perfer Strategy games, too bad there aren't a lot of them.

Sadly RTS games aren't much of the popularity anymore. It's gone down to dumb-stripped FPS's.

My favourite genre is indeed RTS, it can give great atmospheres, a sense of power, and has (from what I've seen) the highest individual skill-cap of all game genres. In an FPS you would need to make it equally skilled by making it complex, which comes down more to a memory game than a skill game.

In an RPG you have so much customization etc it would defeat the purpose of even attempting to make it as difficult compared to an RTS, although I still don't think there's much to it anyway, rather than a memory game.

The timings of RPG's like seen in World of Warcraft (my brother-in-law is decent at the game) can be done the same as League of Legends, or other DotA games. You have builds, champions, runes, masteries and strategies with plenty of different combinations. It's a team-game and playing to maximum efficiency will pull has pulled so much competition in. MOBA style games as a team effort are so skill-focused, the closest to an RTS if you ask me.

Depends on the RTS of course, but I follow the example of Starcraft I / II.

Sadly it's difficult to judge a genre, which is something I rather not do. Sure, I said I prefer RTS, but the objective means to make something equally difficult in another format would be to make it rediculously silly like The Worlds Hardest Game. RTS's are NATURALLY difficult, if you ask me.

That doesn't go to say I dislike the competition between other games / genres - I love the competition in League of Legends, but I don't think the players are measured up to a professional Starcraft II player.
I don't know, it's also difficult to judge on the skillcap when there are different players, really - Call of Duty has a little professional scene, if anything (bar CoD2 / CoD4), and as such it's difficult to see where the difficulty lies since the community doesn't generally learn.

Turn-based Strategies I truthfully don't think are that difficult in comparison. Sure, you have a HUGE measure of psychological warfare (which can honestly be achieved in any genre), but ultimately time is not of the essence, and that's generally something that makes it too easy for people.
I'm a fan of Chess, mind you. :P

I know I'm rambling, only replying to the OP but nonetheless it's cool to think about.

Although, my thoughts on Horror Games have SIGNIFICANTLY gotten better now that Amnesia: The Dark Descent is in the box. Previously F.E.A.R was the cheap *Go around the cor-- "BLAERRGH!!"* trick, but the ambience and atmosphere generated by Amnesia with such a considerably smaller budget is astonishing.

Man, I love that game. Too bad I've had less than 2 hours of it - trying to find the right time, and that is fairly difficult.
(Especially considering the time I spend on here chatting. )

Isn't Territory War a TBS / TPS?
Meh, I don't know. I was never much a fan of Age of War though - yay, you done the mission, now what?

I'm one for the Epic War series before No.3. For some reason it struck me so well, the story, that is.

Epic War 2 had this nostalgic element to it, the graphics aren't bad, but they're not good - and they hit the atmosphere just right from what I've seen. I've finished the game about three times and written a walkthrough for how to beat the final 3 bosses, it's an awesome game.

Epic War 1?
Well, I knew there was an Epic War 2 and of course I expect sequels to be better but the game was so addictive I had to get to the 15th (AKA last) mission before I decided to try out its sequel which needless to say was exceptional - especially with the addition of a story.

@OP If you want a sandbox-ish Strategy, try The Settlers: Rise of an Empire.

If you want a game that has near-perfect balance, good maps and of course a great community (with its holes - as does any community), get Starcraft II :P

If you want a historically based RTS of the year-esque game, get Age of Empires II. :P
Man, I learnt so much from that game ^^

idk kno y i just think shooterz own but alzo lyke dmc seriez alotz cuz itz awezome

Why would you make the effort to put in nearly impossibly-understandable text? :P

It's a tendancy ^^

I enjoy platforming games with a story in the background such as EP.

I forgot to mention that platformers have a pretty high skillcap... kind of :P

Three links are the same series and from YouTube, worth watching mind you.
Here's another one, which is stunning. (But not skillful, unless you think putting the map together was amazing - which it is)

Probably adventure and or shoot-ups.
I like too much of a range and change my mind way too much to have an overall favourite category though.
