So says the pentagon, while others say that this percentage is inflated. This is due to being overweight, high school dropout, and criminal activity. It is suggested that only 10% of Americans are actually qualified for the military.

With all the children playing sports on the console instead of in actuallity I think that this will get even worse.

Also more and more are being turned away due to asthma, having to take medication for depression, and attention disorders. The next time we get a draft it will take half a year to get new recruits anywhere near being fit if not much longer.

My cousin flies unmanned aircraft and has gotten in several firefights on the ground. Plus the stress of bombs constantly going off really tires you out and causes other problems overweight people may not be able to handle. (no offense to overweight people, just stating facts)

not all people who are 'unfit' for the military are fatasses with no heart strength whatsoever. the military has very high standards for fitness (as they should) but they would be able to have slightly less fit yet still healthy people (there are plenty of them that want to be in the military but can't, say even due to asthma) fly the unmanned aircrafts.

also, flying unmanned aircrafts is a lot less stressful than being in the middle of a fucking firefight getting shot at and having your brain on the brink of collapse.
yes, I realize unmanned aircraft controllers have stressful jobs too, but far more manageable than being a soldier.

and for those who cannot physically go through strenuous conditioning and training (or who simply don't want to go through the effort) then they can fly unmanned aircrafts.

also, having lots of spots for operators of unmanned aircrafts would have a decently positive effect on the number of applicants.
I know plenty of people who say that they would join the military if they weren't leaving their families behind to run around defending cities in the Middle East with 100 lbs of gear + weaponry on at all times. not to mention the number of soldiers who die from shell shock (PTSD) and aren't included in number of US fatalities.

If the military wants soldiers they will just send all the fat kids to fat camp and once they are marginally fit they will be sent to basic training to finish the job of making them not fat. Also those that are not able to go into battle could still do things like manufacture trucks, tanks, weapons, and other things necessary to wage war.

You forget that in a major war that is what women are for.

Or routing supplies behind the lines. Or jumping out of planes as shock troopers.

Then do the routing supplies.

Well, I don't care about the armys people being fat, I could probably do the 100m faster than many American soliders (14.1sec)

No offence, but 14.1 isn't an extraordinarily fast time. I reckon most trained soldiers would be able to at least match that. In any case, being able to run short distances quickly isn't what really makes a decent soldier.
