I suggest that for new people on the site they get told how to get points, what to do,and how many points for each so they can have an easier start on the site.
They can either go to the Newcomer's Forum to ask some questions or the Help link at the top navigation bar for basic info. I know both of them are not in your face, but newbies should still be able to find them.
