With AG being as big a community as it is, its easy to reply to an old post when 1-2 people have posted in the meantime.
It's simple, when you post, if there as been any posts between when you first opened the page and your post, a dialog box should say "There have been replies since you started typing!"
Extra Points if you showed the posts that posted when you were.
lol I say no. Maybe when we have dealt with the glitches, but this is a good idea for the forum games section. No points there but like for the "Rate the ________ above you". Gets annoying sometimes when you post and some one else already did. Points should remain the same.

I agree to that! When you start a thread, maybe an option would be to get some suggestions to other (older) threads that resemble your topic, making you aware that the topic was already started by someone else...
Since you get no extra points for 'just' starting a thread, only for comments made in one, it would be a big help! Meaning otherwise everyone wanting to earn points would simply start one to get as much points as possible, which would now be avoided...
AND it would seriously cut back on the server space needed to hold all the threads and their matching comments in them!
