Well, I've never played Left for Dead 1 or 2, but I have played Resident Evil 5. So i'm going with Resident Evil 5 even though it wasn't the best game. The controls sucked and the camera sucked too.

you should play l4d cause the camera is is much better than RE5 and has more zombies to kill lol.
l4d2 its a pretty decent game and can be quite addicting, ( is till prefered certain parts of the first game to the 2nd though) resi 5 on ther other hand is a truly horrible game that tries to be an action game with ridiculously awkward controls, resi 4 was better ( as it was survival horror not action, and less fluid controls just dont work for action)
L4D2 is much more action and less fear( if you can say scary to RE) i like to slice zombies and its much more fun (special on a longer time) but RE has a good story and characters (albert wesker is so BAD***)so it makes me play long but the infinitve ammo modes for weapons are gamebreakers
so i like L4D2 more (where else can i slice and dice zombies so good?) but only the uncut version
Finally played L4D2 for the first time, and from what I've played I still like RE5 better. L4D2 was kind of a disorienting ride that didn't really make all that much sense. RE5 felt a lot tightly done to me, with the feeling like you are doing real damage in a fitting conclusion to a long story. I agree that it's strayed from its original horror roots into something with a bit more action, but I think that it's a logical progression.
L4D2 defiantly. It is a fun multiplayer game (if you choose it to be so) and you can mess around a lot on that game with your friends. Very fun. RE5 not that bad, could be better though.
