Welcome to the Winter Armatar Contest! This is not going to be restricted towards Christmas. Entries for other winter holiday celebrations are also encouraged! So if you celebrate Yule, Hanukkah, Christmas, etc., or just like snow, feel free to submit an armatar about it so long as it fits the winter holiday theme. This has a wide range of possibilities!
You can submit your own original armatars to this thread following the theme of the Winter. If it meets our quality standards, I will add it to the 1AP armatar section for all members to use! You can reference previous contests for a better idea of what this is all about here. You can also check out a few select returning Winter armatars from 2009 in the 5AP section.
There are some guidelines, and unless your entry follows these set of rules it will not be accepted.
GUIDELINES: 1. Must be appropriate. Cannot be offensive or profane in nature. Try to keep it clean! 2. The entry must be square, and at least 100x100 pixels in dimension. 3. Must scale down well to 100x100. So if it is larger, make sure that it will still look good when it is scaled down to armatar size. A few suggestions about this: - Sometimes simple is better. If you go into a lot of detail, it might not look as great when you scale it down. So just keep in mind what the final size will be. - If you are able to do vector, that can help with the sharpness of the image. However, since they are so small this probably isn't a big issue. 4. Must be completely original. You cannot use elements from other piece of artwork, the entire armatar must be 100% original. 5. Must be Winter themed.
Good luck! And I look forward to seeing some awesome armatars =)
I don't really see why the angel is winter/christmas themed, but it's pretty neat.
In the Christian bibles, according to Luke, the angel Gabriel comes to Mary and tells her that she is to be the mother of the son of God; once Jesus was born, an angel announced Jesus's birth to the shepherds, who in turn, announced his birth to the entire area. Angels are used as Christmas decor on top of trees, in ornaments, as statues, ans also on most nativity scenes. I was raised Catholic, and have always seen angels as traditional Christmas ornaments.
Wistress...are those pot leaves in the background?
Yes, GIMP has default backgrounds,
No, maple leaves, according to gimp.
Is that even allowed?
Why wouldn't it be? The leaves are not the main attraction of the picture.
Driejen, do you think you could take the text off of yours? I like the armatar, but ones with text will not be added (perhaps I should add that into the rules).

That is the first thing I thought too... I really like the armatar though! Is there a way you could change the leaves? If multiple people see marijuana leaves, it might not be a good idea to put it up as is.

LOL ..of course I can change the background, I didn't even think about those looking like pot leaves. I'll change it by tomorrow.
