Alot of people in the age 10-25 have been starting to listen to rap and hiphop... Thats realy annoying cus i hate hiphop and rap and they hate my music(screamo, heavy metal) and what made them listen to that annoying music? They can get furious cus they hear that i listen to what i do. Does anyone here know what have happened?
Me and 3 more in my class(out of 20) listens to metal... rest is pop, rap, hiphop and rnb
thats cuz rap is deep, some times is poetry, sometimes its people talkin about their live and experiences. heavy metal and that screamo stuff is just people yelling and screaming, why would you wanna listen to that? if you wanna here that then go to a kindergarten class room.
lol the reason we do is because we like to party and if uve ever tried to play hate breed while at a party... it sort of freezes up u cant really dance to it if you know what i mean. im all hunky dory with rap/hiphop but there are some limits i take.
guys dont hate on the guy hes not saying that metal is the only good music hes saying why dont people stop listening to shit and listen to bigger shit lol. i love metal belive me and i do like rap. but when you think about it it all is terrible music. the lyrics are all poorly written in most songs of these catagories but i still love them lol.
basically im trying to say is that people like to party and you cant really dance to goatwhore so.... rap is the answear

you can dance to metal just head-bang or mosh or both its not a party unless you go home bloody

Its a bit dated but I think Malcolm Young said it best: "People can go out and hear R.E.M. if they want deep lyrics but at the end of the night, they want to go home and get f**ked That's where AC/DC comes in."
underground rap actually has values in it. Yes, the values of honesty, individualism, etc are often easily seen when you pay attention to the real lyrics and not only the drug/sex/murder/gang related lyrics. Most people that are against rap have not actually listened to the lyrics of underground rap.
Mainstream rap is a different story. Mainstream rap is done for the masses, and usually has zero values with few lyrics. It is not what rap is intended to be -- that is, rap was originally ('urban' poetry set to a fast tempo -- which is reflected in most underground rap.
.But, the there are rappers who actually talk about their lives and ordeals. These include Eminem and a bit of 50cent
Let's not forget Tupac. His song Dear Mama is amazing and has value.
Honestly, I don't see why anybody can get so angry because someone listens to certain music. So what, it appeals to them, no big dealio. I used to hate rap with a passion, but now... I like it. Not much, I won't go out of my way to listen to rap, but if it comes on the radio, I won't change it or anything.
And yeah, I hated rap because of its total lack of values... but I got over it. I just like the music. If I felt like going home and reflecting on the meaning of each song I hear then following what it tells me is right, I'd probably be one f***ed up kid, with all the AC/DC and Jimi Hendrix I listen to.

There's many others, but he's definitely one.
Atmosphere is a current example of a rap (they're a complicated genre, but it's rap enough) band that has values.
Another is the Geto Boys (died late 90's/early 00's?). Their song Ghetto Fantasies is amazing. "No matter what you do to your hood stay true And you'll make it Can't nobody take it Geto fantasies become realities if you don't let em shake it"
If you ask me both rap and metal are sh.t. And no i will not read the whole thread. I am going to read the OP and ignore anything everyone else has said.
i used to be just like that about 5 years ago. what solved it was listening to really weird bands like korn, primus, apocalyptica, turmion katilot, gorillaz, and nine inch nails.
some are classified as metal/rock but they're far from a stereotype about it.
i don't like mainstream rap/hip hop because --
-no real skill involved with an instrument
-some curse way too much
-i associate gangstas with posers or overly aggressive about appearance/pride
Well being that I am only the person here who lives to death and black metal I know where you are coming from. Most everybody thinks I an "satanic" or evil for it
