Is there any way to get email notification of responses to forum threads?

And if not, are there any plans to implement such a system?

It's a good suggestion, but I noticed that I don't even get any email no more from AG, about either the merit or the profile comments...
These stopped coming a week ago, so I don't know if they will add this email notification as an option...

It's a good suggestion, but think of the problems.

What if you were the creator of the "Rate the above user" thread, which has an epic amount of replies? That's a huge amount of emails.

Then again, I guess there would be a function to turn them off, but then you'd probably have to turn notifications off for no threads or for all threads.

maybe you could change settings or something or maybe you could only get 1 every day that updates you and its not instant

Funny, I still get them... Maybe you turned off the settings.

Ouch. That would really hurt. But what if it was made into something like a newsletter, that only comes once a day, or once an hour? It would work.

That's true. It would be too much work for every thread.

I checked my settings and they are all in order... I got one yesterday all of a sudden?! Did you do that? LOL :P
No seriously, I don't know why, but it's probably because of maintenance done at the moment I guess...

Yeah that would really hurt! :S A newsletter would be a better option I guess AND it would immediately solve the problem I stated in my thread on 'what AG is up to'... Nice one 'ulimitedpower'!

That's me: Always solving problems... Except my own...

Yeah, it would: A newsletter that tells us about bugs, glitches and our forum threads. That be nice... Maybe I'll suggest it in a really long thread (Which will then be critiqued heavily and make me very sad).

You guys are acting like this is some kind of new idea. I'm only suggesting that this forum have a feature that almost every other forum has.

As for getting too many emails, there are plenty of solutions for that, the best one being that only one email is sent per thread until the user checks that thread again. So if there have been a dozen replies to a thread you're subscribed to since the last time you checked it, you just get one email saying that there have been replies, and it links you to the first one.

Also if there's a thread that you expect there always to be replies to, you can just not subscribe to it.

You can always save the link to that thread and go back to it to have a look at the reactions... but you still have to hope it's not locked before you get to reply to them!
