But this one is addressing one specific issue whereas if he were to post about this on the other one it would be forgotten in 2 pages.
I have thought the very same thing myself. Of course Saddam Hussein got an award from United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization so I really wonder who it is that picks this stuff out.
sent 30,000 troops to Afghanistan a month later. What are your opinions on this?
Troops are needed to get more troops out. Not to mention that the current missions in the Middle East (called the Peace Operation, I think) are to maintain a stable society and peace in the countries over there. It is likely that sending 30, 000 troops over there only made him more worthy of the prize. If a council or some group of authority invested a lot of money into preventing crime - for example, making a massive police force - would they not be worthy of a prize for their attempts to cut down crime rates?
Admittedly, I do not entirely support the Peace Operation, but I can see - if I am correct - why President Obama was awarded the peace prize. There were also more worthy, but at the end of the day it's the organization's decision.
IDEAS, he didnt even do anything yet
You have to be willing to do something before you can take the step taking action. Certainly, it does seem that it was a bit early, but as the original poster says, he did send 30, 000 troops to Afghanistan only a little time afterwards. This could have been because there was a sudden need to do something to prevent sceptics of his worthiness ranting, but like you say, there were ideas and maybe he took actions towards them.
Saddam Hussein got an award from United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization so I really wonder who it is that picks this stuff out.
That's insane, where did you hear that? O_o
Walaroo, who the hell is that?
I heard somewhere that Obama got the peace prize via not being called George Bush. It's funny, and could be true, but I don't think they'd pick him for the prize based upon that.
STOP WITH THE PICKLES. As for Saddam Husein's award, here is just one of the many places that it is listed.
Basic mathematics and logic tells you that to take your troops from one nation to bring them home you do not send more. It is negative progress in the equation. However I am glad they are there and he should have sent more but sending troops to war is in no means whatsoever a good reason to be acknowledged for promoting peace. It is promoting the continuation of war.
