This was brought to my attention by a friend on another site.... Let it be known that I have done little reasearch, so having URL to sites whould be apprtiated.

I believe that we should hunt them. They eat live stock, witch harms and angers farmers. They also depleat the deer population. People say the wolf population has gone down dramatically, but after the reinterduction they have been doing well, so why not hunt them? Yes I know this is a horrible OP but I hit some of my major points...

They eat witches??? JK.

The deer population NEEDS to be depleted as without all the hundreds of thousands killed each year they would destroy their own food source and that of other animals. Then they would all get sick and die spreading disease. I believe farmers can be reimbursed in places where this is a problem. Also even if some were reintroduced to the forests the vast majority of wolves were never cared for by humans.

I honestly wouldn't be surprised if wolves become an endangered species (in some places they ARE) in the next 10-20 years. Their population is severely low, and if they go extinct, we're going to have to go into overdrive with deer hunting. There are enough to keep the population within reasonable ranges, but that is slowly changing. Besides,

This is pretty much suggesting the same as hunting Tigers.

I think you should ONLY kill wolves if you have the proof of wolves killing your live stock, then hunt down the pack/wolf in the area only.

Also, I watched this programme, the wolf man i think it was, he brought in a radio, played the wolf pack territoral cry like every night for one week and the wolves never came back. And the farmer was saved!

I live in oregon. There are no wolves in oregon, because they were all killed. Recently, wolves have been spotted coming from the idaho-oregon border, crossing into oregon.

If an area is over populated with wolves, then tags should be registered out temporarily.

As for livestock problems, build a 6ft high electric fence.

They also depleat the deer population.

Just so you know, there is no shortage of deers on the planet right now.

What if animals wanted to hunt us because we are predators to all animals? We can't just hunt one animal because of its instincts. Wolves are part of the natural biological order of things. If we hunt them to extinction we upset that order and possibly ruin several important eco systems.

I made a post here earlier, but it somehow glitched, said i posted it 40 years ago, and now isn't here anymore. so...

The wolf population suffered a severe bottleneck in the past and is still vulnerable. Hunting them now would completely reverse everything we've tried to do by not hunting them.

It's not that big of a problem for livestock owners anymore, they can easily have fortified stables/etc, and I know that up in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan my neighbor has no problem hearing the fuss from his turkeys and getting out his shotgun before the coyotes have half a chance to do any damage.

If wolves gained lots of strength and started overwhelming deer populations, I would support deer-like hunting regulations. Otherwise, nowhere in the foreseeable couple decades.

the wolves #s are low and theyve been left alone to continue to repopulate. so unless you want another extinct species of animals then i suggest you dont try to hunt wolves

Why would we need to hunt wolves? Like many have said before, with the proper defenses, you'll be able to keep the wolves out. You can even use psychological warfare as well, as stated by Blkasp. You're not going to go around killing the wolves just because they caused you a bit of misfortune.

My idea is that we seal off the entire state of Colorado. a 20 foot high inclined spiked electric wall, with spikes and trenches on either side. Then we transport a large amount of endangered species there, and let them go crazy.
We would make sure to evacuate everyone, though. Except for 2 cities, they will be forts/research centers.

umm wouldn't you need transportation? so how do you get that.

why the hell should we hunt wolves. they did nothing wrong.

and as for the farmers with the live stock issues, why don't you do something to make sure wolves can't get to your live stock in the 1st place.

Because I am sure after all the exploitation farmers have loads of money to spend on whatever they like.

My family raises cows and would have no qualms shooting anything attacking them. Plus my dad is a fur dealer so as long as it was not a wolf it would just get skinned and sold right along with the rest of what he buys.
