I heard people saying blades are the best type of weapon. Why So? This is what I think about the weapons (although I haven't used axes much).
Blades: fast attack speed, close range, low damage
It seems like you have to be on top of the enemy to hit them and that you usually only hit one at a time probably because the short range of the blades.Unlike swords where several enemies can be hit when they gang up on you.
Swords: medium attack speed, medium range, medium damage
Swords like axes seem to be able to attack several enemies at once due to their increased range over blades.
Axes: slow attack speed, long range, high damage
Like swords only with an even higher range and attack damage but a lower attack speed.
The damage rating, to me, wasn't a big factor. All the weapon types do decent damage. The attack range and speed are what seem to be important.
Axes kick ass first of all they have wicked damage awesome skills if u use berserk and jump and time the skills right u can wipe out mobs that moving hurricane skill with level 4 thunder +pure strength means i can wipe out mobs that are levels higher higher than me with ease attack spped dosent really matter when u have 3 wicked mob skills.
Swords kinda rule as they are balanced and have decent damage and and almost same attack speed and btw if you upgrade SWORD PASSIVE skill sword turns into a fast hitting AxE
The mistake I made when I played the game originally was in not really knowing what I wanted to use as a weapon. I wasted points on weps that I wasn't using. I started over and decided to use an axe ONLY and level up the skills in the axe column. I don't think it matters what you use...just stick with it.
Axes are the best to me, you may argue that damage ratios don't change that much, but I disagree. You can GREATLY increase your attack damage in %'s, the criticals scale with this too, and the skills scale directly with like 400% of your damage. The point is, later into the game, you barely ever swing your weapon, so the attack speed is useless. I only level up by wiping out rooms full of enemies of my level+-1 with a single bladestorm, and that includes bosses if I buffed with an attack potion and enrage.
