Dear "fair" players of Colony. Can you guys tell me why do we hack and why do we even start hacking? Ill give you one hint why we hack. Its because you, high ranked "fair" generals or whatever you guys are at rank 6-10, you guys just hate noobs. The ones that are below lvl 5. Give me some other reasons down there in the comment box.
Hah! Well tell you what. Maybe yes I hacked, but so what. I bet there are over 100.000 people playing colony. Which one am I? It will take you some time to guess. And you know what. The banhammer? Don't make me laught.I don't care if I get it. I can make another accout on this site :P
First, the hacker might not be that secure in the real world, whether it is school, work, or anything else. Thus, they pick on other people to feel better (standard definition on why bullies...bully). Could also be expanded to include that they aren't good at the game.
Second, they might want to have fun. Ok, seriously, why do most people play games? To have fun, right? Hackers...might just wanna have fun...
Third, a sandbox mode. They might want to try a new build, or see the viability of different units without having to tech.
Fourth, to experiment. This only applies to home-made ones, not prehacked. When you modify the game code, without using any computer, you can have an introduction into flash and AS3 (I believe colony's in AS3).
Fifth, and a very rare one...I doubt ANYONE is here like that...they have no moral code or senses. They don't care, and/or don't perhaps even realize what they're doing, and about other people's feelings.
Sixth, and slightly different from the first...they want to cause other people harm.
By the way, to clear up this misconception-- A hacker is anyone who changes or creates code. It's another name for programmer.
A CRACKER, is someone who hackes for malicious reasons (this being the ones we normally see/talk about).
For example, if you want to learn hands on how games are programmed, and open up colony, and look at the script, you are a hacker. If you change that code, you are still most likely simply a hacker. If you use that changed code to harm something/someone, you have turned into a cracker.
Hacker=Benevolent. Without hackers, we would not have this technology. Cracker=Malevolent. *they* do the bad things.
I probably have moar cracking reasons, but I forgot them...I'm using "hacker" in my wall of text because everyone else is using it...
Another reason hackers hack is cause they don't like to lose. I've found that that is the main reason for most hackers.
tell me how that banhammer feels
We don't have a ban hammer we have The Blacklist. It is the main defence against hackers (crakers?). The key to the Blacklist is not to memorize it, but to skim it. You get less of the manevolent hackers and you don't have to try to remember the name. There is a link to The Blacklist on my profile.
