Hi everyone, recently I was asked by a fellow friend of mine to rate Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 for him. I rated it a 9/10. Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 is the sequel to Call of Duty Modern Warfare. It was developed by Infinity Ward, and was released on November 10, 2009. We shall reffer the game as MW2 for less text consumption. When MW2 was released it grossed $310,000,000 in the first twenty-four hours in the US, UK and Australia. It was quite a hit, mostly everyone on the previous call of duty was talking about it. We shall begin this review with the campaign mode. After a very short training drill, you are thrown into the battle of the campaign. The chaos of battle strikes early and frequently, where even on the "casual" difficulty setting your live span can be cut short in an instant. Enemies, explosions and gunfire surround you, and rushing hero advances will only get you filled with stinging bullet wounds.Enemies will constantly flank you and outsmart you. Running for cover will only save you for a mier second before you are given the option to advance due to overwhelming grenades and fire. You never seem to have the high ground and are almost always outnumbered and surrounded. The original Modern Warfare has a pretty short campaign experience that carries forward in duration to Modern Warfare 2. Experienced players can cut right through the campaign in around 7-8 hours of gameplay like a hot butter knife. The less advanced players may take longer. Now we move on to the Special-Ops feature. We will refer to it as Spec-Ops. It is a new game mode to the Modern Warfare. The spec-ops are all new missions with shared environments and boards from the campaign, which can be played solo or cooperatively with an ally. There are four groups of missions: Alpha, Bravo, Charlie and Delta. Each mission offers multiple scenarios of difficulty and objectives. These missions lead anywhere from defending a position with sniper rifles, claymores, and predator drones to storming a house filled with grewsom juggernauts. The result is instant satisfaction of being able to play apart from the campaign and multiplayer. Stars are awarded based on the outcome and are collected to unlock the next Special Ops mission to keep a high replay value alive, or so people would play it more often for achievments, this gives us a sense of accomplishment. Now, what everyone enjoys most, the xbox live multiplayer feature.Multiplayer is as much a part of Modern Warfare as campaign and is available with six online game types are including Free-For-All, Search & Destroy, Demolition, Domination, Team Deathmatch and Capture the Flag. There will soon be more game modes added. The same experience points and unlockable reward system of Modern Warfare are retained with added different kill streak rewards. With more choices of guns and add ons the player is able to give himself the choice of how to slaughter the enemy team. IT Can be from camping with a sniper rifle and heartbeat sensors to running and gunning with an assault rifle. Prepare for crazy online battles because the new MW2 brings an all out new battle spirit to the gamers. I rate it overall a 9/10 because of its terrific graphics and gameplay. The only flaw I have found within the game are the IA, they are slightly bigged and rush at the player without sense of harm, this is quite horrible when faced with a juggernaut. The graphics to this game are beutiful and crisp. So turn up your 5.1 surround sound because this is as close as you get to real war in the virtual world!
I would also like to apologize for my grammar and spelling errors if any were found. I am a big behind the english language since it is not my native language.
Thank you for making this I woud like there is skirmish option (same as multiplayer but with PC instead of real players) for ones who don't have internet, or ones who you know...don't have real game
THANK YOU! Now this is what I wanted to see. You gave an insightful look into the game, as well as expressing your opinion! Good review, thought there were a few mistakes (nothing to cry over though)
Thanks owen135731, I tried my best to make the users see whats coming for them if they actually get the game
Haku mate I have confirmed with crownmods that there will be 3 new types of gameplay including VIP(like gears of war), capture the flag but with one flag(like headquarters), Thermal global nuclear war(Im not sure what it is), he was looking through the hard drive files for the console, im not sure if it is in the pc though.
A very good review, better then most people would ever do, just that the campaign story is confusing, it looked like infinity war copied a Michael Bay movie and a Tom Clancy story.
And the multiplayer is goo but you die so easily that most people stays in doors and camping, i hope infinity ward fix that problem.
I, personally, was not impressed at all with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. However, your review is pretty good - if you make another one can you add in paragraphs? Just a suggestion.
You gave this game a 9 OUT OF 10!? This game is garbage!
The campaign is just a mess. *Spoilers* There are so many plot holes I just can't believe it, here are just a FEW of them:
The Story First couple of plot holes is the airport scene. Makerov is a well known international terrorist (essentially the Osama Bin Laden of the day), yet for the airport attack, he doesn't wear a mask. Don't Russian airports have security cameras? I mean honestly, this man is one of the most wanted people on the face of the earth yet no one bothered to look at the security tapes to see him walking around the airport with an M240?
Shepard says that he lost 30,000 men 5 years ago when Al Asad detonated the nuke wiping out the invading troops in his capital city. However, to those of you who don't remember, that was a Marine assault on the city, and Sheppard is an Army General. So, while I can understand him being mad about it, him saying they were his troops isn't true, unless of course he changed service branches and managed to work his way to General in 5 years time.
The Russians have a firm grip on DC, yet the military's plan isn't to launch a strong counter-attack to retake the city, instead they're going to just carpet bomb the crap out of it? How does that make any sense? In doing so they would destroy things such as the Constitution and the Declaration of Independence, not to mention the White House and Capitol building.
There are many more I can think of that are smaller, such as when you are in Brazil, and when you chase the guy who shot your driver into the streets, CARS AND EVERYTHING IS ON FIRE! HOW THE HELL? The person has a Desert Eagle! Not a rocket launcher.
The Multiplayer
Infinity Ward really effed with the MP big time. There are some MAJOR balancing issues.
Killstreaks influence camping, especially the nuke and chopper gunner.
Maps are absolutely TERRIBLE, and they influence even more camping.
Care Packages give people AC-130's for 4 kills in S&D. Annoying as hell.
Assault rifles are death machines. 0 recoil, extreme power and accuracy. They basically make every other gun useless, especially the SCAR-H and ACR.
Sniping has been ruined because of the assault rifles, witch can essentially do EVERYTHING.
Some secondary weapons (Model 1887's, PP2000) are rediculous. They have as much power as primary weapons. The 1887's have EXTREMELY INSANE RANGE FOR A SHOTGUN. Terrible!
In conclusion, this game is just a noob-friendly mess. IW ignored their actual fanbase, and got greedy. All we wanted was COD4 with the major problems fixed and with better maps, weapons, story, and game modes in general.
Every one is entitled to their opinion of the game. Modern Warfare 2 is one of those games where you either love it or you hate it. And yes, when I was talking about paragraphs I meant adding a space between them. What you've written is a wall of text with extra spacebar hits. :P No offence.
TO be honest the Campaign was a bit of a let down. In comparison with the first Modern Warfare where the Campaign was something quite special - it had stand out scenes and it was fun and EASY to understand. Multiplayer has improved in my opinion, despite some balance issues and a greater deal of boosting and glitching taking place, (but that is the community's fault).
