In mid 1941 Nazi Germany broke their NAP (Non-agressive pact)and launched Operation Barbarossa, the invasion of Soviet Russia. The Axis forces carved deep into Russia, almost into Moscow itself, but they were stopped by the defenders of Stalingrad, this tale tells of the Battle of Stalingrad, and who defended it.

Chapter 1-Hell on Earth
2100 hrs, 17 July 1942, Russian Front
"The Germans are here! We need artillery support now we nee-" the radio operator couldn't finish his sentence, because a German sniper had shot him in the head. Commissar Ivan was shooting at Russians and Germans alike. "Never give up, never surrender! Push them back to their filthy holes!" boomed Commissar Ivan's loud voice, so loud even through the chaos his voice could be heard.
Sergeant Aleksandr was taking cover behind a sandbag. His gaze met Ivan's, and within a second, Aleksandr had leapt over the sandbag and shot his submachine gun at a unsuspecting German. Mud was on his face, and he was tired. The journey across the Volga was bad enough without Ivan threatening to kill him if he didn't charge a MG42. He saw a rifle on the floor, and spotted a Russian without a weapon. He handed him the rifle, and the Russian smiled and said "Thank you!" and then went and shot a German MG spotter.
"Push back the fasicts! Do not back down!" shouted Commissar Ivan, whilst shooting a Russian soldier running away.
"Three...no four..." stuttered Aleksandr, barely beliving his eyes.
"TIGERS!" shouted Aleksandr
