THE *CENSORED* AGE

A Few Weeks ago Australia banned Aliens VS Predator... The guys who made the game refused to censor the game but 2 weeks later made a
" Safe For Australian Eyes " Version of the game. And 2 months before that, Left 4 Dead 2 had to also be censored in australia, GTA 4 is Censored in australia, Fallout 3 is censored in australia, And Risen And Singles: Flirt up your life ARE BANNED IN AUSTRALIA!!

WHAT'S NEXT?!?!?!

This got me thinking... WHAT IF ONE DAY THE AUSTRALIAN GOVERMENT TURNS IT HEAD TOWARDS... FLASH GAMES!!! Think about it. Just imagine all those gory flash games we love getting banned. This includes "THE" The Last Stand : Union City, as the new Blood Splatters on the wall and the blood flying everywhere makes the game GORY.
WHAT WILL ARMOR GAMES DO!?!??

Imagine Armor Games having to get Con to make a Australian Version of the game with NO GORE AND DISSAPEARING BODYS!! NOooooooooo!!!!!!!

Man. So us Aussies better watch out. If The Goverment turns it's head towards Flash Games WE ARE SCREWED.

left 4 dead 2 sucks in Australia i found that out on you tube

how can you have ratings and then take out the gore WTF whoever is doing this STOP you cant rate a game MA and then take out the gore you might as well rate it G SO PLEASE STOP

sorry i just had that in me for a while but what would a world be with "safe" games ?

You're probably about to hear a bunch of snarky comments about caps lock, which is a pity, because this is a good topic.

I believe that the Australian government has no (ethical) right to censor any form of interactive media. Warn viewers about content? Sure. Restrict viewership to adults? Maybe. Censor? Never. There's no reason for such an oppressive system of censorship in any form of media, and it sets a dangerous president.

Well, I'm Australian but I have never played game that have a RIDICULOUS amount of blood splatter. This doesn't really do me much of a problem but as you all know, people consider gore as the "awesome" part of the game.

If you like bloody games, then you would be playing The Last Stand over and over again until you win it. And once you win, you continue without much thought.

Maybe a warning or something would be preferable? I don't know how many other people like it but I would think that if enough said 'No' then its no.

In short... media should never be censored! Whatever way you may think of, this is simply unacceptable!

I'm agreeing on the fact that there is no ground for the Australian government to do this.
The same thing is starting to happen in the Netherlands, but on other topics, and I know gaming will be up on the agenda sooner or later...

Somehow the governments from all around the world have the idea that this decade has to be one of everything that's good, pure and clean. And for that they state that you need a censorship with a simple message: "We do all of this in YOUR best intrest". Please, don't make me laugh...

Let people decide what's right and wrong for themselves or their kids if needed. Use warnings and age-restrictions if needed, but NOT censorship, that's just wrong...

If You Ask me the Australian Censorship Board ( ACB for short ) don't know the first thing about videogames/flashgames. They censored Left 4 Dead 2 because the ACB saw them as " Infected Humans " as the game had not told them they were zombies. I mean seriously!!! A 6 year old could tell this isn't some Sick Human!!! IT'S A ZOMBIE!! SICK PEOPLE AND ZOMBIES ARE ENTIRELY DIFFRENT THINGS!!!

And one the reasons the orginal Left 4 Dead was not censored for this reason was because the game used the terms " Creatures and Beings " instead of " The Infected ".

But aren't Left 4 Dead 1 and Left 4 Dead 2 based on the same event? A ZOMBIE APOCAYLPSE EVENT!??! The ' Common infected ' in L4D1 and L4D2 are exactly the same!!! THE ONLY THING DIFFRENT IS THE WAY THEY ARE DESCIRBED!!!

... I hate the ACB.

ohhh...dat sucks..i dnt think they wud ban anything on the net...i mean look at all the things you can find here..if the ACB wud ban a flash game like TLS:UC then they myt as well go ahead and ban porn sites, youtube, etc....oh please god dont let them!)

Woww that really SUCKS i started playing Rated M games at the age of 12 and it has not made me no physco crazy killer i really couldnt see the use in them doing this its the PARENTS responsibility to control what the child plays so yeah...sucks that there doing that to you guys ):

Wow that is messed up. ust messed up. I mean why in Australia? Does it offend them in some way or something? I know that stuff is for adults only but who cares? It's not THAT bad, It's SUPPOSED to be like that do Australians think otherwise? There's no point in censoring it. You don't even really pay attention tp that stuff you just play the game for the fun of it (or at least i think you do). But still it sucks for Australia, sorry guys.
