I'm pretty fond of this game. It's like a mixture of phage wars (the way the battles play) and gemcraft (everything else, I'd swear it was made by the same guy...)

I've only played for a little while, so my tips only go up to the level with the giant tortoise.

General Tips:
- Keep crystal buildings stocked to the max
- Get defense towers first
- Don't let unit counts cap in normal structures, use them!
- Reinforce your buildings constantly
- Don't forget your firespell, it makes capturing structures very easy.

Advanced Tips/Strategies (not really...)
-Upgrade things like speed, attack, etc. Spells are nice, but not needed.
-Immediately attack your enemies (larger) starting base. The enemy generally uses a large amount of units from it, making it easy for capture. Use firespell to weaken it even more.
-Don't go for the larger defensive tower's first. Its much easier to let the enemy soften it up for you first, then 'steal' it. Also, move your troups while the tower is firing on the enemy to prevent loses.
-Overload. Send a lot of units into a crystal building or tower, and before the units start to decrease (because of the unit cap) send them out to attack an enemy building of your choice.
-Replay battles with blind mode! It doesn't make anything that you have beaten that much harder and gives a nice exp boost. Probably the only problem is when guessing to go for a defensive tower.

Level Strategies (up to the great tortoise)
The 'Buddha' Level (the one before the turtle)
-This will probably be your first challenge in a straight playthrough. Two tough enemeis that will quickly over welm you because they are double-teaming noobs. Pick one an enemy to kill first! Take a few structures very quickly and then go for the heart (the enemies largest starting building). A successful takeover will leave the rest fairly easy. The other enemy on the other hand will probably have only started to nip at you if done right, and the rest of the battle will back like any previous one.
The Great Tortoise (you can't miss it)
-See that big turtle? Leave it alone for now. There is a ticker at the top, when it ends the tortoise goes crazy. Quickly and I mean quickly kill the other enemy. You have no time to play with them, and even though they use a few spells on the tortoise, slugging out with them will probably mean defeat. To quickly kill your enemy, just send your starting force at its main building, and then perform mop-up duty. After you have dispatched your enemy occupy every structure (maxing out the big tower and the crystal structures are not needed). Once every structure is occupied quicly select each one and send your units to one of the arms. Immediately repeat the sentence above until you have destroyed one of the arms. The tortoise does fight back, so whenever it destroys one your structures quickly take it back. Attack the other arm, and the the head and the battle is over.

Thats it so far, I haven't played past that. Fill free to continue upon this, discuss the game, or w/e

Yeah I was just going to say, my single biggest tip is to completely remove all skill points from anything relating to crystals or spells and never worry about capping crystal tower things. They are completely unnecessary and you can progress much much faster if you just focus on exp, attack, def, speed, and especially agility (which, in case you didnt know, increases the rate of reinforcements in your buildings). I have beaten the game all the way through twice, and most of it with all the various debuffs. The other big tip is that once you unlock a handicap mode or 2, all you have to do to max your skils quickly is repeatedly play the first lvl with any handicaps you have applied. All you have to do to win is send all troops immediately to their big base (with lowish stats need to send a few waves) then quickly to the base the troops move to right next to it. You can win in ~30 seconds, even with every debuff applied, and get over 10k exp. Its great for maxing your stats, making the rest of the game pretty simple.

Yeah I actually realized that after I posted it. Why worry about increasing crystals when you aren't going to go for spells? I completey contradicted myself :/

DO NOT WORRY ABOUT CRYSTALS

I've completed the campaign at level 27.

Basically, each giant monster has its weak spot. You can clear just enough defense so that there is a path that can sneak in and go directly for its head. Movement speed is extremely important when fighting giant monsters.

In fact, this game reminds me the game travian. But it is too fast-paced to my mood.

For instance, small houses regenerate too fast. The time it takes to generate 10 man with decent upgrades is like 5 seconds and when you have 5 or more such houses you are pretty much wasting lots of resources as it is impossible to send command that fast.

Either the game needs to be slower-paced or there should be ways to select all houses that is 80% or more full.

Don't you have to kill all the parts?

Nope, but you have to kill a few to be able to safely get to the head.

Here are a few other methods in this game to use:

OCTOPUS:
Many have trouble on him. I found that by maxing your spell reload ability, and meteor shower, you can just acquire all the crystal generators and blast him over and over w/ meteor shower. Makes it easy killing by then with plenty of time to spare

SCORPION:
Pummel his two inner claws and his big giant one on top. After that you can just blow up his head and win.

TURTLE:
Speed helps a lot here. A neat thing I did, was after clearing the enemy, send all the troops you can into the middle "defense" tower. Once they all pile in and the counter is at 75 in the tower, send them all towards one of his feet. Being that they come from a defense tower, they'll have an upgraded attack....takes the turtle down fast

SKILLS:
I think speed should always be invested in whenever it becomes available. It's so invaluable.

Try to max XP from the start too. After that, maybe keep around a lvl or two of fireball, and max your defense/attack/agility attributes when you can.

Fireball might be the most useful spell. It's cheap, and greatly weakens enemy buildings allowing for easier capture. Also softens up those pesky defense towers for easy captures

Aside from that, Hypnoses is pretty cool too when used right. Everything else you don't really need, though meteor shower is great for the octopus.

CHEESE TACTICS:
Play the game and kill the giant turtle once, which unlocks other tribes. Start over and choose the right-most tribe (they have the highest base speed). Now, fight your way back to the turtle. You can sit here and repeatedly kill the giant turtle for MASSIVE xp gains, easily hitting lvl 40+ before even moving on. Now, by having the fastest tribe, and speed maxed as far as it can go, your troops ZIIIP across the map. You can essentially immediately bum rush the enemy and blow them up in under 20 seconds because they move so fast.

Octopus can still be tricky though....use method I stated above to make swift work of him

The hardest part that I had against the octopus was targeting what I wanted because of all the tentacles flaying around. I beat him pretty easily by taking out his top tentacle, then the one below that, then the one below that. That would allow you to easily flank his head for an easy kill.

Of course, if you feel like levelling up quickly, grinding is a viable alternative when you start to feel the pinch. Max out XP gains and play blind mode (Sudden Death when it becomes available) on the first few levels. With Sudden Death and maxed XP gain you can get ~3-4k XP, enough to gain levels very quickly.

As for spells, I haven't tried Quake yet, but the only ones I have found to be useful are Fireball, Swamp, and Hypnoses. Swamp is perfect for wiping out entire squadrons of enemies. Hypnoses is perfect on those large masses of soldiers that your enemy sends from time to time.

The octopus is actually quite easy. Just send all reinforcements to the top right building and only launch attacks from it. Take out top two tentacles then go for the head. You don't even need much speed this way.
