Recently in Yellowstone over the last few days, over 1000 earthquakes were recorded. around the same time last year, over 500 were recorded. Does this worry any of you since yellow stone is a 600 mil deep caldera?!?!?!?!?

The explosion is 50 million years overdue, and even if it does worry me, once it's exploded I am dead so there won't be much time to care.

No damage or injuries have been reported. Of said earthquakes only 10 have been magnitude 3.0 or greater with the highest at 3.8. The only "recent" notable earthquakes at Yellowstone are the one in 59 that had a magnitude of 7.5 and the one in 75 with a magnitude of 6.5.

50 million years is a joke! Thousands of earthquakes take place in Yellowstone every year.

I believe he's referring to Yellowstone blowing its top.

I would too but now I like 6,000 miles away from it now

You must not live in the continental United States, yet you say you are from Colorado?

Crabb his sentence more sounds like 'I would be too if I were still in Colorado you know, but now I'm off living in ________ for whatever reason.

I live in the continental USA, and I don't think it really matters. Yellowstone is a natural geographic area for earthquakes, As seismic waves would always screw themselves over in that submerged uber-volcano.

But really, I don't think its a big deal at all. Estimates range all over the place and the guess is is that this big caldera blew a long while back -- Saying its 50 Million years overdue is probably easy enough to say its got 50 Million years left. There's a bit but not really much evidence that we're all about to blow up.

Also, seeing as the Earth does happen to change so much, especially giving the large gap of time between the last supposed boom and now -- that again, It might not even matter.

If that does happen, the USA is screwed, and I'm going to steal a plane or something :S

But to be honest, I don't really live in Yellowstone. Also, if it blows its top and I can't escape -- then dun dun dun dun. Its almost like if you know the world is ending in 7 seconds and there's nothing you can do about it, so... Just chill

If it happened, I would be happy.

Because I know how to survive. And I'm very smart. And everyone knows this. Therefore, I would be in charge.

If they don't like, then leave me alone. And my followers. Because me = cult leader. And we all know people easily fall for cults. Look at the Catholic Church.

Assuming something doesn't kill me.

We were just studying yellowstone in geography, its scary to think it could erupt. Apparatly it would be 1 million times bigger than an atomic bomb, the volcano is just 5 miles underground.

I heard if the super volcano erupted, most likley everyone would die and it would be the end of the world.

I dont think the whole world but maybe all of america i dunno. There are about 7 mega volcanoes around the world if they all start a big chain reaction then yes were doomed pretty much.

I heard that if you were in America you would be screwed but on the other side of the world there would still be drastic effects.

I dont think the whole world

I heard that the explosion would definitely be big enough to kill nearly everything in America and South America, and the plume of dust and other volcanic crap would cause catastrophic events across the globe. Basically: everything would die.

Saying its 50 Million years overdue is probably easy enough to say its got 50 Million years left. There's a bit but not really much evidence that we're all about to blow up.

There's evidence that it will blow up, and statistics tell us that it is overdue, and although on a scale of millions of years that's not flawless evidence, it does signal that in the next thousand to million years it will blow up.

I believe he's referring to Yellowstone blowing its top.

At least someone can read the sentence . . .

If Yellowstone DID blow its top, basically all of North America would be covered in dozens of feet of lava/ash, and basically everyone on the continent would be screwed.

For the rest of the world, the most drastic effects would be drastic global cooling(as the ash still in the atmosphere would reflect the sun's rays) and the numerous effects of all the sulfur and silicon oxides that would be in the air.

Well, if the number of quakes doubled like that then it indicates increased seismic activity. And that means that the tectonic plates are moving more. Which could trigger a volcanic eruption. Although, I doubt that it will blow it's top in any of our lifetimes...

Also, if it blows, we are all screwed. The ash and dust sent up into the atmosphere would could cause like a mini ice-age or something. Which would cause other, smaller problems. Also most of America would be buried in ash. As well as South America and Canada. It would definitely screw with the economy. ALOT!
