The year is 2012. The day is January 31. It is a glorious day for science. A new method of treatment for dying patients of virtually any ailment has been developed--a treatment that could revolutionize the world of medicine. The miracle cure comes in the form of a genetically engineered virus called K-5. Once it's injected into a patient, it shuts down all systems except for the heart and brain, which it reduces to a hibernation state. It then uses the massive amounts of extra energy the body isn't using to repair any injuries or sicknesses in 1-2 days, depending on the severity of the damage. The patients then rise "from the dead" and begin functioning normally! The only problem? The frontal lobe of their brain, the area which makes human rationalization possible, doesn't return from dormancy. In addition, the pain receptors and other bodily functions don't work either. So now we have a human who can't rationalize running around with only two vulnerabilities--the brain and the heart. The Panic
The problem with one zombified human? Replace "one" with "over seven million". By the year 2012, the earth's human population rose to 8.5 billion. Over half of those were in need of K-5 to cure cancer, AIDS, fatal injuries and other conditions. Roughly three of the five billion patients died within several hours of treatment, and the other two billion rose--and they were hungry. Two billion more were devoured, while one billion escaped with their lives--but had been infected via zombie bites. The remaining 500 million people scattered, either killing each other in their panic, being devoured, or, if they were very lucky, surviving to reach *temporary* safety. You are one of these survivors, and you've reached Crookston, Minnesota. You find yourself searching for supplies: food, weapons, transportation, and by some chance more survivors.

Diary Entry: #1 Today I met up with some people, after trying to search that gas station I met one guy, and then another one pulled up killing the last zombies, then another guy pulled up! We all got into this Jeep to head north to Canada, One of the guys was writing in a journal and he gave me one of his extras, There was some stuff on a body in the jeep, one of the guys took all the stuff. I found some food, and bottled water in the gas station before we left (+3 days worth of food and water).
February 2, 2012 We haven't seen any zombies for a few miles so we finally relaxed enough to make introductions. The other survivor's names are Dev Evos and Nicholai Peleiu. Dev's a baseball player who doesn't have much to say about his background. Nich's a park ranger who fled the canyons when he heard reports on the radio. My old friend James is a General in the military.
We reached the borders of Canada, finally! It's pretty lonely. I don't know what I expected, a border guard? Of course not. Still, I'm all tense waiting for something to jump out at us. I turned to my companions. "I say we make for the coldest point...maybe the Zack can't survive up there. Anyway we should get up there, look for survivors, and either hole up for the winter or make some long-term travel plans. What do you think?" I asked them.

The survivor named Robert asked us what we want to do in Canada, I said that I thought we should find some heavy duty camping equipment if we are wanting to go to Canada. (consume 1 day of food and water.)

Gamma suceeds in picking off the slim one, before it even knows what's hit it, the shot puncturing cleanly throught the soft tissue of her brain. The lumbering one roars in anguish as the slim mutant sinks to her knees, dead. The huge one takes 15 rounds in his heart, chest and stomach before he finally concedes to the ground. Gamma sneaks out of his cover, knowing that this maze was a deathtrap, filled with the mutations. He sneaks out, listening and sensing carefully. When he reaches a cross-roads, he goes down the one that seems to smell less of decay.

Diary Entry: #3 In an abandoned house I found a hatchet, and a small first aid kit. While leaving the house we got caught off guard by a few wandering zombies, and I shot two in the head with my handgun, it was a close brawl, Devos used his baseball bat to kill two of them.

My father was a mean man all he wanted me to do was play baseball since i was five but really i just wanted to DANCE!.End diary I leave the journal and a note saying that i have to go on alone to the man that found me. I ask the man named Nicholai if he wants to leave with me if not i leave tonight.
I've always been a light sleeper, luckily. I awoke to the sound of Evos, the baseball player, trying to get Nicholai to leave with him! "What the hell are you doing?" I asked.
