This, like the famous Zombie survival club, of which I am a member of, and proud to be, is about survival. However.
Thos focuses more on humans. Not Zombies. You have to see how you will filter water, get supplies, find shelter or what not, do what you can, and also see how you can defend yourself.
The rules are like the Zombie survival club. -I will give you a scenario, and you must devise a LEGIT plan to survive, and not just go, Hey yall I'd like to join your club or do some other stupid thing like that. - No flaming other people, but crticism is a good thing. We want you to expand your mind, and this may actualyl pepare you for something. Because there has been disasters, such as in Haiti, but also after some great war or during a war, like in Japan after the fall of the Imperial powers in world war 2, you will have to know how to fight off looters, get supplies, and it may actually help you. Not saying the zombie Survival club won't help you, but we haven't seen anything close to a zombie besides Human Rabies.
-Once you are a member, and there has been at least 4 responses that include a decent plan to the scenario (at least 4, can have more) Then feel free to start a new scenario. This is something I wantedi n the Zombie survival club, as im tired of people's scenario's,. who had pretty good ones, being tramped over by a bunch of noob spammer's or someone who just plopped their scenario over it. So this is how Im dealing with it.
-Also, if you spam, flame, or jsut be a total troll to someone, I will personally boot you out of the club, get a moderator, and make your eyeballs be used to be put into tourists drinks. So if you honestly like to do any of those things, I have no patiance with you.
-Criticism, as long as its constructive, helpful, is welcome. We don't want "your plan sucks ballsack" We want "You need to revise this, or basically your plan sucks ballsack."
Now, if there is ANY qeustions, refer to me about things, and I will hopefulyl answer them. I go offline and online in static periods, as I am busy often, and I try to spare my time for this.
SO HERE IS THE FIRST SCENARIO!!!!! There is a large Earthqauke, and afterwards, a neighbouring country attacks you. You are in a small city in eastern europe. Here is the map of it.
most of the buildings along St.Mesto and Nove Mesto are collasped or collasping. And there is looters coming in from Wilsonova. The looters are on Motor Bikes, and armed with pipes, pistols, and chains.
The Invading army, is armed with AN 94's, has basic frag grenades on them, and all their weapons have laser pointers. They also have 4 large tanks, T-90's, and 600 troops They are splti up into two groups, one group attacking from the Vltava river and the rest attacking from the North East corner. You, are located on the map in the Ressolva stret, bottom of map. Your house has collasped, but you have no family members in this city. You managed to grab a broken stop sign , and it is about a metere long with a hexagonal stop sign at the end. You are in jeans and a t shirt with a trench coat, no hat.
Now then. You have no food, water, and your covered in dust. So what do you do?
I like santajoe's idea of getting on the roof, really the only idea I can think of at the moment. I remember during last spring me and a friend got bored so we made a raft out of a wooden fence section and insulation with a chain wrapped around it to keep it all together. The raft, while basic, worked and was easily rowed with a plank of wood. So, for this example, I would, if a piece was available, fine a large (enough for two people with a little extra room) piece of wood and as much light material that can float with Santajoe's help. Would most likely use insulation found in the roof (if it looks like the water won't stop rising above the house's roof, if it isn't I don't want to completely butcher the house) and try to make another raft like I did back then. I know it's a crude, basic solution but I do know it works from experience (on a calm river though) and at the very least the construction process might help to take our minds off of the situation just a little bit Santajoe, the cords from the appliances might not be the best solution as I found out with that raft. Remember we used a chain to keep the insulation attached to the fense section. The chain was secured to the fence post with I believe nails and at first I was against the idea, using cords to secure the insulation to the fence. Well, during transport and dropping the makeshift raft into the water the cords came off quickly while the chain remained. Just pointing that out as part of my experience. That's my idea anyway, try to construct a makeshift raft and find shallow water, very much like what Santajoe suggested. I can't really think of anything else though I'm sure there are other options. Living in West Texas though flooding isn't exactly something I regularly think about.
HOw much time will you really have though? The water is at 4 feet when it rushs into your home. That puts most of the none floating stuff underwater. As well as water up to about your chest, assuming your an average adault 6 foot.
Then the water is rising 2 inches a half hour. Thats FAST! While your building a raft, it would probably flip over in flood waters litered with other random things ripped off of near by homes. It will not be smooth sailing. And why use instillation? That stuff is pretty hard to come by, and it gets heavy when wet. I woudn't count on using it for a raft.
Then comes the chain. While it sounds good, whats to say your gonna have this i nyour home on a high shelf? If you walk out side to get it, your getting swept away. Unless you have it inside on a shelf higher then four foot, your not gonna be able to locate it under the murky waters.
Floods are NOT fun either. The water is insanly cold, depending on where you are (here in PA even in the summer flood waters are cold as ice)
How will you get from a window, on a bunk bed, to the roof? Most windows have a nice three foot gap between the top of it and the roof. And roofs often stick out over the end of the house to allow water to run off eaisly. You would have to break the window out completly, andthen position your self incredibly akwardly in order to reach up and grab the roof. Then, if you ca't do pull ups with ease, your not gonna get up there, as the only way I can see this happening, is you reaching out, grabbing the top of the roof, and pulling your self up.
Then comes the part about waiting.
And yoour nation your in has poor response teams, you won't be rescued for a while.
This could mean hours, days, weeks, longer?
If your nation dosn't respond for say a day. There will be complications, and then who is to say they will come to oyu first? What if they don't get to your town for a while, or they don't spot you? How will you get food, water, anything? Don't say you owuld drink the flood water, becuse that a great way to get your self killed.
Well, I never said the idea was perfect, just an idea. Though getting to the roof is the obvious thing to do, at least to most people, how deep can the water get? Finding high ground is the priority and the roof seems to be your only option. Finding something that can float AND carry you plus the other in this scenario is a priority as food and water do start to matter fast as you said, you can't drink that water and food isn't floating by. A makeshift raft or something that allows you to move away from the house without being in the water itself is needed, especially if rescue isn't a certanty. Staying at that house means death eventually, as does going into the water even when it calms down. I'm assuming the water won't raise over ten feet (the assumed height of the roof) so getting to the roof is a priority as I previously said and then finding something that floats, I used a fense section as an example though other objects would easily sufice. Insulation should be found in the roof and you can use that to help your makeshift raft float. The rains hopefully let up before your roof is submerged and if they don't, well, you don't have to worry about it anyway. The raft allows you to move away from certain death to hopefully dry land, your only hope if rescue response is poor. The only "sure" way to survive this scenario is to have left before the flood came followed by having a canoe or something stored inside your house up high. If not, finding something that can help you move and stay above the flood water is priority one.
k. You guys got a better chance by going on the roof. But exiting the house= Bad idea. In Dominican, we have floods, and hurricanes occasionly. So, the best thing to do, is to do this. Find a bucket, or milk carton, fill it with tap water, then seal it. then get like chips, or something that has a bag over it and will last a while. Chips, peanut butter, will be excellent. Bread won't be bad eithier as long as its packaged.
Those are some tips too. Your also going to need something for light, as the power will almost certainly be shut down in a flood.
I like how you notice the water is undrinkable. Considering things from outside are in it, which includes crap, garbage, bacteria, and sewage. So good call. Revise on points.
Ok. from the last scenario, we are at the geurilla's village. Supposing you have patched yourself up by now, You are now, in a healing state. Your still weak, and the wound may re open if you rustle around too much, but in other words, your healing, not infected, and as long as you stay safe, you'll probably live. But your also in the Geurilla's town. What do you do? Surely they won't let you stay for free. Whats your plan of action.
(PS, im going to start a new scenario, or a new member might, when I get a new member. So, this one will carry on until I get someone approved.)
My first idea is to try and find a way out of the town if my wound will allow it, get away from the fighting and all. I myself have no cooking ability besides microwaving, though in this scenario I might and might volunteer to be their cook or something. With my wound and if I had no choice but to remain in the village I would try to make myself useful to the guerillas such as volunteering to be an assistant quartermaster or something along those lines to make myself useful to their military machine without going to the front lines. At the moment if I am forced to remain in town that would appear to be my best option, make myself useful without putting myself in the firing line. Armies need records and to know where their equipment is and all good comanders know that. Also, if I get their equipment stored a certain way they would see to it I recieved proper care to ensure the guy who knew where everything was stored, where it was secured from and knew how to read the records kept living. On another note, I can come up with another scenario if need be.
Mhm. Texan, you proven well enough your avaluable commentater, so your authorized to be a Member.
Not a bad plan, but remember, this will not be the ONLY Geurilla group, and they probably have people covering their desk jobs. But nto a bad answer. They probably would accept, they have nothing to gain by killing you, they wouldn't want to waste their bullets, on a wounded person, that is their own coutnrymen. However, I don't know if they would uflly trust you with their documents just as yet. But you could probably offer them something along the lines of " I'll keep record of anyone who takes gusn from the cache, or if someone comes to the village" Along the lines of that. Sooner of later, they may expect more of you, but thats later on.
Not a bad response. I wouldn't see you dying there, your not being threatining or demanding. But caution is always key. Do not fully trust them, as they don't trust you, and they can betray you.
Well, my original idea was if possible to leave, but if I had to stay make myself useful. I'm no cook, but I can handle record keeping easily enough.
Alright, I'll throw in a scenario then. A while back I saw this video on youtube of an actual incident that happened to a student F-16 (I believe) pilot; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lHDxFPX-ZSM Now, in this scenario you are an F-16 pilot and the military you serve is involved in a conflict in an eastern European area, mountains, forests, and villages. You where sent on patrol flying under radar and going slow (by F-16 standards) looking for ground targets. Nothing happened for your entire flight time and seeing as the mission seems less likely to turn anything up you are ordered to return to base and wait for further orders. As you begin to climb however you catch a quick glimse of something fly into your engine and the next thing you know you are experiencing engine failure like in the above video. You try to regain control of the aircraft, however it was a large object that flew into your engine and recovery is impossible. You inform your wingman in a tailing F-16 of your situation as well as command and they agree with your decision to eject. Pulling up the yellow lever, the next thing you know you are shooting into the air away from you plane that end up crashing into the side of a mountain. Luckally for you, your parachute opened and you glided as gently as possible back to the Earth. You hit the ground and are dragged several feet before gaining control of your parachute. Removing the parachute you quickly dig a hole and bury it, but as you do so you discover your joints ache and you feel pain when you move thanks to the impact of hitting the ground. Taking a look around yourself, you get a basic idea of your surroundings but are disoriented from ejecting. All you can tell is you are surrounded by large mountains and trees with an ancient stone road leading into the woods. Above you are signs of an approaching storm and the temperature is already dropping. Now, you paid attention to your briefings on what to do should you find yourself on the ground in this nation but you also know what is happening in the country. Years of political tension have plunged the country into civil war with the government forces fighting a brutal war against rebel forces financed by drug, arms, and human trafficing. You know that the rebels have a high price on the head of any aviator and know you are dead if you are found by the rebels, supporters, or someone looking for a quick buck. The government forces, while technically on your side are jumpy and can be scene as oppresive by the people and your nation is seen as helping them, however loyalists exist all over. If you can find a loyalist's home, you should be safe and many of them are known to have helped your county's military personel escape when caught out here. Now, you are wearing a military issue jumpsuit with insignia and still have your helmet. You have a Beretta 92 9mm pistol with two extra magazines and a pilot survival knife with a 5 inch blade. You also have no food, water or shelter, and your emergency locator becon looks broken. The question is, what do you do? You are hurt from the impact of ejecting, however you can walk alright. You are armed with a 9mm handgun and pilot survival knife, though you are also wearing a uniform considered of the enemy by many people in this area, though also considered friendly by others. Do you risk following the road to see if you meet loyalists or rebels/rebel supporters first or do you stay, wait out the storm and hope for rescue and risk a rebel recon patrol looking for the downed pilot stumbling upon you?
First off, I will use the universal sign of peace to make sure the Guerrillas know I mean no harm. Since they haven't started shooting at me, I say that they won't kill me as long as I don't provoke them. as soon as I get to a place where I can take care of the wound, I would rip off one of my sleeves (or both, if necessary) and wrap it around my wound. I would then continue to find a civilian I can talk to (depending on what language they speak). I would ask for water and possibly an antiseptic, while giving the universal sign of peace.
I'd also use the signpost as a walking stick, for my left leg. So that way I don't put too much pressure on it. Or at least, as little pressure as possible. I'd also ask directions to the nearest hospital. If no Civilians answered, I hide in the nearest alleyway, ditch, anywhere, until the Guerrillas go away, allowing the civilians to be a little more... hospitable.
Well, all of the attackers, including the looters, are all coming from the eastern side of the city, mainly the north eastern part. Since the street I'm living on is probably completely destroyed, there would be no T.Vs telling us where safety would be, but the news of being attacked by another country would spread like wildfire. I would then pursue heading south where it is most likely safe from looters and the attacking army. quickly moving through alley ways until I reached city limits.(still having the stop sign)
Part 2:
Once I got to the farm, I would quickly grab supplies that I would need. I would first look around to find a back pack or something to hold everything in. I would then go find food, water bottles, pocket knife, and an extra pair of clothes. Then I would head to the bathroom, and grab any medicine I could get my hands on. Quickly I would go to the farms shed and grab the most useful weapon I can get! Now the helicopters would be tricky to get past. But, as Wex said, traveling at night would be the best way to get past them. Local trees would provide branches and shelter against being found. Everytime a helicopter would pass by, I would fall to the ground covering my self in the leaves of the branches I collected.
To the F-16 scenario: I would take a few minutes to treat my wound and look around. I'm assuming the beretta has a silencer because many military issues carry them. I would remove any sign of being related to the army and I would dump most of the clothes but keep the insignia in my pocket to prove to any loyalists that I am with them. I would hide until night time and look for a nearby village. I would head into the house of someone who looks to have supplies. I would slit their throats while they slept and take necessary food and supplies. Since my fellow pilots saw me go down, it would take no more than a day for them to find me and I would deny any actions of violence against the people. I would ditch the knife by burying it in the ground. Now I am a war hero and I survived. Success.
Congradulations Rinjo, you just broke the rules of armed conflict (killing civilians). Remember, your in uniform and a pilot's uniform has a lot of insignia. Unless you want to be walked around eastern Europe half naked, you'll most likely keep it on, though removing the patches is a good start. The pistol most likely would not include a silencer (extra weight and lenght on a weapon you most likely won't need) and a silencer really doesn't silence a weapon, though it does make the shooter "invisible" so to speak. Though, I should have mentioned the lack of a silencer. Treating your wounds, that ones tricky as they would mostly be shock wounds from hitting the ground. Remember how an ejection seat works, when you pull the lever the canopy (hopefully) shoots off and then a morter shell underneath your seat fires off shooting your seat into the air (again, hopefully in that order). While in the air you seperate from your seat and hopefully your parachute opens. Your aircraft was flying low so the chute won't be able to slow you down as much as you'd hope so you would have hit hard, though luckally not hard enough to break anything. Still, you're limping around in a jumpsuit, someone's going to notice. Waiting to be rescued, not a bad plan, but remember, you relocated down the road to the village so you're not where you originally went down. Also, remember I said it looked like a storm was brewing, if that storm hits they might not be able to send in search and rescue, and even if they can they don't know your exact location. I like how you decided to go into a village, but sliting civilian throats is both illegal and dangerous. Even if they were loyalists, you're now a murderer in their midst, and a wounded one. And if this village is in the middle of a warzone, they most likely had someone watching the perimeter meaning you where most likely seen. It would appear your plan would lead to either a court martial or angry villagers taking the law into their own hands, saying of course this isn't a rebel village, in which case you get handed over to the rebel leadership. Not the best plan, let's see what someone else can come up with.
