This is a short story project I had thought up a few days ago. It's about a research installation on a planet several quadrillion light years away. An inter-galactic spaceship (basically a small, inhabitable moon) was set off along with several other hundred. Planet 59 was one of these planets. there are up to 62 planets that have been reported using advanced solar sails in order to pick up the waves of the radios. Earth is still alive, but just barely. So far, Planet 59 (pending name: Surna, after the main species that livesthere) is the most likely planet to house both humans and other, possibly advanced species.
Planet 59 is currently a research center covering about 10% of the planet's surface. Which is pretty freaking huge, since it's about the size of Jupiter. There are very little weapons, besides shock rods used to contain the animals that live there. No reinforcements per say are ever coming. Unless they manage to make another inter-galactic space ship in 3 years (Aprox. amount of time till the artificial sun burns out, and engulfs the earth in darkness)
So then, now that I have the backstory out, I'll go ahead and get started on the series of stories (they don't go on a linear path, so I'll explain when the things happen by using dates).

Nonlinear stories = win for me. They can actually incorporate twists in them.

The backstory sounds pretty cool. Can't wait to see some.

*ahem*
"Oh god Dr. don't you think it's dangerous up here!?" the meek and nervous doctor said, a clashing from the steel grate echoing through the dome room. The Sea Sector, a great series of tubes and domes. The domes all had a steel grate blocking the cruel sea of Solsun (Planet 59) from the marine biologists. The domes without the grate had a plexiglass floor with tunnels to the deeper sections.
"Don't worry boy, there's no chance that this grate will break! All the sea has is water and teeth, we're safe," the Doctor said to his apprentice, his hardy voice booming through the circular room. Doctor Solik Surna, brother to Solsun Surna, knelt down to take a water sample from the sea below. "If the water wasn't so salty, I'd be tempted to take a sip!" Dr. Surna said, chuckling. The water beneath him was a tropical light blue, with streaks of green and white across the floor. It's light shone brightly on the walls above.
The sea below was not clear, however. Though the water was beautiful and bright, it is extremely salty. So far, all the systems for drinkable water come form the rain forest. Dr. Surna was trying to see if they could use the water from the vast sea to their advantage. Before you could see a foot in through the water, it's blocked off from a huge content of salt.
"But I can never see anything! We've only recorded 2 kinds of animals that come from the ocean, and they're both horrendous. Who is to know what else is going to be down there?" the apprentice yelped, his legs shaking.
"Oh don't worry, the only two animals we've found here are predators with nothing more than really big teeth. They just try and kill each other," the doctor stopped to mumble to himself, "Or so that's what I've gathered..." and continued, "so there's no reason to be scared of what else could be there!" The sea surface rustled below the grate. "Well we have our sample, we can go now scaredy cat." The doctor said, walking towards the door of the dome.
However, the Dr's young apprentice was nowhere to be seen.

Cliffhanger, there you go. I must go to bed now
