I kept Scarecrow alive as long as i could on the mission takedown. he left the house to get to the chopper and as we were running, he justs stops and does not shoot back and gets killed so he isn't scripted to die in the house
I really wish roach and ghost (<-- my fav) survived too. pisses me off shepherd killed them
The ending was just like COD4. Apart from you and Pricey, the stereotypical cockney lad (Gaz in COD4, Ghost in MW2) dies. If that didn't happen, they'd probably be unable to keep the storyline very interesting as they wouldn't be able to introduce new characters.

So they're keeping the storyline interesting by reusing character concepts and plots from game to game? Sounds like the opposite of interesting to me.
Ghost was awesome and everything, but I liked Roach. I thought it was kinda lame that they killed him and had Soap save the day. I liked Soap and all, but I considered Roach my character, just like Soap in Modern Warfare. I didn't really like anything about the ending of MW2 now that I think about it.
I'd rather they used new plots. Characters can stay or go, but if they go, they should be replaced by new characters, not stereotypes.
I just don't see where they can go with it.
I didn't think they needed to go anywhere in the first place: I really liked the end of MW and felt that a sequel was unnecessary. The ending of Modern Warfare 2 sort of ruined what I so liked about Modern Warefare's closure. However, no one I've met seems to agree with my perspective. Maybe I'm reading too much into the situation.
The whole US general being in league with the Ruskie was a bit of a change, and the fact your character actually dies are new to the series.

But Americans seem to think that everyone in the SAS is either a dour Scotsman or a cockney geezer. The writers for MW2 aren't going to be any different.

What I found odd was that despite the fact that for the entirity of COD4 you're team was systematically taking down the leadership of the Ultranationalists, they suddenly and inexplicably take over Russia by the time MW2 starts.
Hehehe, I love this arguement, please - please, think about it this way.
If you don't get it your way, you got something to do for revenge, not to mention, they're (although not real) going to catch you in possible blind spots, what MW2 done with Roach and Ghost was a tough luck scenario, where the point of it was that you're going to take hits.
The reason you may consider this a bad thing is because your not used to it in Games. Stargate - TV Show, sure one of them died twice, but he wasn't completely gone, sure one of them stopped being Colonel after 8 years, sure one of the oldest enemies died, but hey, nothing DRASTIC seemed to happen on the good side.
Look at 2012, they ben physics just to keep 5 people out of 6.8 billion alive. It just so happens that when they run out of gas, they find Asia had move 2,500 kilometres TO THEIR DIRECTION! "Wow, lucky huh?", Then what? As they land and I suppose make camp, they also find that a pack of Helicopters heading to a "secret survival base" was on their way there as they found them, "Very lucky... huh?".
This is a good one too, they stick out the storyline, Stargate killed 1 God, another worse one spawned, killed him, then a new faction came after 8 years, very nice timing, isn't it?
Battlestar Galactica, sounds very nerdy, but it's much better, and less "nerdy" than Stargate in my opinion, and the best - BEST of all, they kill off people, the Captain was shot twice, nearly killed, his son nearly died from FRIENDLY FIRE, the XO loses his Eye, another crew member loses his leg from another friendly fire, and another really good thing - they did not stick it out. They done a full blown lovely-acceptable losses story, and it was top DvD.
And when you see the earth get blown up and 48,000 people are left alive, it sucks you in to watching it, what they don't do is keep it that exciting, they do that in Battlestar Galactica.
I've driven way off-course, yep... But watch that and then you'll know what I mean, it was good that they killed them off because it demonstrated the tough luck kinda thing.
