Clapton is my personal favourite, mainly because I like his style of music. Hendrix, probably is the greatest player ever though, from an objective point. He created sounds people are striving to replicate to this day, way back in the 60s. That's a pretty epic legacy.

Not forget, purposely leave out. He's way overrated and there are far better guitarists.

I disagree. Within his genre, Slash probably is one of the best guitarists of all time. It's just that he has a very narrow field. Really great guitarists can play different styles, which is why I left him out, but that doesn't mean he's really overrated..

You might not like Kirk's style, but you must admit, his solos are awesome.

It really dissapoints me to see, that not one of the three best awesomely guitarplayers of all time that I like, haven't been mentioned at all...

My top three consists of:

# 1 Edward Van Halen, bow to the master of the guitar tapping!
I chose the world famous solo from the first official Van Halen album (same title), but this is another version, played live at a gig... never stops being awesome to listen and look at!

# 2 Adje Vandenberg, the creator of his own 'double-sounding' guitarplay!
I chose the song I knew everyone would know from when he was with Whitesnake, but it's not his best solo ever though... not by far even, this is simple stuff...

# 3 Steve Vai, a guitarplayer that is both awesome in play as in artwork!
I chose a song he made with Whitesnake (yes he was in that band too!), so not one from when he was solo... and those are even better, waaaayyyy better!

Rory Gallagher is my favorite guitar player, he was amazing and extremely talented. Sadly he died 47 years old.
