I've been an avid music gamer for as long as I can remember. I remember going to the store and buying the original DDR for the Playstation 2 the day it came out. I bought the (at the time) $200 Red Octane dance pad, went home, and played for a straight 12 hours. A week later, I was playing on Heavy mode. Guitar Hero came out and I was mesmerized at this new style of gameplay. Of course, I had to buy the game immediately. Another 12 hour stint and I'm playing on Expert. Games such as Guitar Hero, DJ Hero, and DDR always came natural to me, especially with my background in music.
I get on Armorgames.com to play fun timewasters while still getting an amazing gaming experiences. Now, I've played my fair share of games on here that gave me hours of entertainment and challenge. However, while I was randomly browsing through the Misc section, I came across a game called RhythmWorld. At first I thought it was just going to be a cheap knockoff of DDR or something down those lines. However, after spending a couple of hours playing it, I noticed that it has some great aspects.
DJ Disks is one of the coolest formats in a music game I've ever played. Once you learn the basics and learn how to twirl your mouse around those disks, it becomes a great gaming experience. The fretboard is the same way. Even though I've found a lot of songs that aren't synced up (which makes the game a real pain to play sometimes), I have had a ton of fun playing it. I haven't gotten the chance to experience the Click Clik part of the game yet because I've been so caught up on the other two formats.
What I'm trying to say is that I've finally found a game that's free, online, that mirrors my love of music and rhythm games. No matter what other people tell me, I'm going to keep playing this game as I strive for those top scores on my favorite songs. Thanks, Armorgames!
