I personally hate his voice, but this isnt a hate thread for him. I am just wondering what other people think of his songs and of his voice. I find everything about his songs boring. what do you think of him?
The guy has amazing talent as a guitarist on the technical side
I forgot about that. He is a great guitarist. He was amazing at Michael Jackson's funeral. He didn't sing, he just played guitar "in place of Michael Jackson".
Lyrically, he's okay
His lyrics are nothing to be proud of. Half the time his voice makes it so you can't understand a word he's saying. He really needs to learn to anunciate a bit more.
pop and blues? two genres I cant stand listening to these days. they used to be good but now theyre ruined. combining the two plus his froggish voice makes his music absolutely unlistenable.
His penis is a racist.
which is ironic because I dont think his voice knows that he is white.
I found this old thread and thought it needed an opinion from good old me.
John Mayer? To be honest, I hate his voice. If he didn't have such a strange fake voice, he may stand a chance on my standards scale. That voice is what does it for me, however; it's like listening to an old man being strangled. Metaphorically, because it's a horrible thing to hear, and literally, because that's what an old man being strangled sounds like.
On the matter of his voice, well . . . it's an acquired taste, like Geddy Lee or Anthony Kiedis.
I don't know who Anthony Kiedis is, but the name sounds familiar. Geddy Lee's voice is one that I've never cared for, because it's just so annoying. I know a lot of people who adore Rush and can't get enough of Geddy Lee's voice, but I personally hate it, as I do John Mayer's.
He is a great guitarist.
He really is. I would respect him much more as a guitarist in some rock band, but as a vocalist, he shouldn't get all the hype he's been getting. If he sang in a regular voice, he would be alright; however, he uses that fake "blues" voice at a (failed) attempt to have a "raspy" effect, and it just ruins his songs completely.
