Let's start off with me saying that The Kingdom of the Wind is a great game if you know how to play it well, which there are ways of doing if you are willing to take the time to upgrade everything. This guide will teach you, how in the first few levels it is possible to dominate the game efficiently and how to not screw it up once this deadly efficiency is obtained. Finally I want to say that this is not my favorite game and it never has been, it is simply a short worthwile game that can be a load of fun if you take a short while to follow this guide.

Guess what. This game takes time. It is not won in twenty minutes while enjoying it. Doing this will seem like a never ending struggle which most feel like, however with by taking the time to gain massive upgrades it is possible to become awesomely powerful before you hit the fourth level.

How do you do this?
I'm here to tell you!

The first thing is to obviously start the game by following this link or just opening it on your own.
Once you have it open start a new game. If you are already into the game just upgrade alot, that's all there is to say, but if you are just starting follow this guide to utilize the small amount of time before you slam headfirst into the heavy enemies. The first thing to do is the only fiarly difficult thing to do, beat the first level.

What you have to do is:
1. Once you get in immediately look over the icons on the right side, do not memorize them, simply hover your mouse over them to see their names in the box in the upper right corner, you will get practice...believe me.
2. Upgrade your mana once.
3. Send out riders (your lowest guys) as you revieve mana.
4. Once you have at least 5 or more guys out there wait a minute watching them to see if they are in desperate need of help. If they are, help them...send a few more guys, but the main point now is saving.
5. When you have sufficient mana and are not being beaten to a pulp by your enemy upgrade your mana income again.
6. Send out a few more riders (2 or three) and wait a minute 'till you have about 60 mana.
7. Unleash a few copters (the most effective method is alternating one on each side starting with the side that needs the most help.)
8. Wait a second and upgrade your mana again.
9. Now you should be good to go balancing your copters with riders to keep your enemy at bay until they run out of bad guys.

Now when you have won the level click OK and go to upgrade on the menu. Scan over your options and notice the lines connecting the icons along the rows. The middle one is your guys, the top one is your turrets, the lowest row is for your mana upgrades, and your top icon is your main base upgrade. Eventually it will be important to upgrade your base but not now. The first thing to do is upgrade the guys you have, your riders to their max upgrade and your copters as far as you can (your experience points to spend depend on the guys you sent out in the level and the guys you killed.) Now go back out and play level one again using the same basic strategy (it's the best one), investing in mana as much as you can while holding off the enemy. After beating it the second time upgrade your castle once in the upgrade screen (your base.) After your second time upgrade the mana income. Play the first level until your mana income is upgraded to it's third teir out of four. Now slightly alter your strategy as you approach level two. When you enter you should invest in your mana twice before generating eny of your troops. Once you have 2 or 3 troops out there continue to invest in mana until they are in need. Once they are you should have sufficient mana to send out a junkload of riders and a few copters at a time. Remember to use your cast power every time the enemy gets close enough to be well in range. As you could see the more copters you sent out in the first round the more experience you got. If you are good you may have gotten 200+ once or twice. In this level it is possible to get as much as 400 XP in a single round. Once you have beaten level 2 upgrade your castle to teir two and your mana increase rate to four. Now as you continue to beat round 2 invest heavily in your regeneration rate of your people. Once you have done this invest in a wide array of guys but do not heavily upgrade them. You should have no trouble summoning some of your heavier guys once you get into your rounds because of your straegy of investing in mana and your upgrades in mana regeneration. Then beat level three using the same strategy as you used to beat level two, but with making use of more of your guys (It is a pretty constant game with not alot of suprises.) Once you beat the level this time, beat it a few more times. After this you should unock your thunder turret and upgrade it to it's full capacity. Now at the start of each round after you send out your first wave of guys save up a bit and establish all your turrets. It should make the game run alot smoother. As you beat level three a few more times make sure to upgrade your guys more and more until they are at their full teir. If necesary because of your impatience (no shame in this, no-one likes to spend forever on a level) use level four instead. Never ever ever ever ever ever ever upgrade your starting mana. It will take an extremely heavy toll on your game. If you want this explained look for my comments on the game (the ones on the game page) they will explain it. Once you have all your guys, your thunder turret, and your building and regeneration rates upgraded to their max you have all you will need to destroy anyone who dares challenge you in the game. You will win. Feel free to explore some of the other upgrades, but if you want to test the upgrade for the initial mana save before you upgrade it, not after. You will not be happy with the allmighty secret of this upgrade that I am not keeping so when you realize how much it sucks you can just load the game from where you saved before. Have fun dominating!

In gemcraft chapter 0, upgrading the starting maximum mana is pointless, and potentially harmfull to some players.

Here, the effect is even more pronounced. Just upgrade mana regen.
I recommend upgrading the glider to max ASAP...it'll do more damage than a basic panzer (I think), and it'll still be cheap.

okay, not sure if the game got a version update, but oncwe you can build lvl 2 turrets, the whole game is incredibly easy. at lvl 3, even the humble ice turrets can finish any stage sine they have 7 digit health numbers.

getting the turrets is easy too. save game then make your upgrades, reload. chances are you still have the upgrades and the same XP before you spent it. rinse and repeat to aquire other units and turrets.

even without exploiting the upgrade screen, being able to defend your castle with one lvl 2 lightning turrets sucks out the challenge this game could've provided.
