These new ads make even my brand spanking new computer ridiculously slow. Gemcraft Chapter 0 positively reduces to a crawl.

I am fairly computer literate so I know to clear my cache, reduce useless background tasks, etc. It is these new ads creating the problem.

I realize Armor Games need advertisements to keep the games free, and I am not suggesting that all ads are a problem. But if they could remove those particular ads with the video rollover function it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I am pretty sure that AG has had the video advertisements for quite a while. It isn't a recent development. Also, as soon as the game loads, an option should pop up that allows you to skip past the advertisement and start the game.

No these are very new, within the last two days, and they are banner ads... Always on the bottom, though varies on the top ad. I play every morning before work and every night before bed, so I am quite sure these are new.

adblock plus - firefox

And then hope Klause won't give you a run down of his sticky. Use it and hope it helps

Hmm, I just tried out Gemcraft, and it was running smoothly for me. It might be that your computer is slowly reaching the end stage of its life, the 'way too slow for gaming' stage. Or your browser needs an update (Or perhaps Flash).

Well as I said before my computer is brand new. And I keep it updated. I also do photography and purposely bought a computer that has a lot of memory so I can run programs like adobe photoshop and adobe lightroom together without any slowing. They both are memory hogs. If it is reaching the end of its life then one month is a very short life!

When I play gemcraft It runs smoothly for about 10 minutes then slows enormously.

Oooh, ok. I thought you meant the ones that are actually in the game file as it loads.

the other type of memory is for storing.

Flash games do eat a lot of ram so if you computer isn't up to snuff you should see lag.

But if you can run photoshop and it's new then it must mean it has at least 4 gigs of rag enough to play any flash game.

But I agree with you those rollover adds do eat ram and worst of all is when you "accidentally" roll over them.

I would recommend you use Firefox and install noscript. Makes your web surfing much safer and less annoying.

I'm concerned about the ads that bring up a freaking full screen window just when you hover over them. I'm playing a game and don't notice where my cursor is because I'm watching the action, then all of a sudden my screen gets all dark and an ad pops up. That better count as a click so at least some good is coming from my game getting interrupted constantly.

I agree with Tharos on that one! The 'hover-ads' should not be placed in near distance of the games, but only on the other featured pages of AG, because they tend to disrupt the game you're playing...
Maybe AG should put only 'click-ads' on game pages and leave the 'hover-ads' to other pages exclusively?

Me too. The ones that pop up at the bottom of the screen are hard to get rid of too. Because the make your own ad button is RIGHT next to the close button.

Guess it's a matter of 'skill' then to close them... XD

But seriously, they only pop up once when you 'enter' a certain screen, never more than once, do they? At least I haven't had any bottom ads popping up more than once... :S

I've found out a little trick there... if you open a window on a page (anywhere on AG with the 'bottom ad' popping up is fine) and you close the ad, but leave the screen open and dorment, you won't get them on other pages for quite some time! I think it's because you have that window opened still, you won't be bothered with it for a while...
But don't tell anyone else...
