I was going to write a clever intro for this topic, but I couldn't think of one.
Anyway, here are my most frustrating video game moments:
- Racing Rottytops (Shantae) I don't think anyone else besides me has played Shantae, but I'll describe the level: Roughly the same as the infamous jet ski level in Battletoads, but you're not warned which platforms are comeing
- Putting up with noobs (Any multiplayer game) No explanation needed
- Getting past the barrel thing (Sonic 3) For the longest time, I thought it was a glitch in the game. I had to look it up
- The "rincess in a box" puzzles (Prof. Layton and the Curious Village) It's a combination of a slide puzzle with the Rush Hour game. There's almost no strategy to win; the hints actually say to not look at the other hints offered because they won't help. Not fun.
- Any battle frontier brain (Pokemon Emerald) These bosses are extremely cheap with the pokemon they use. And items like potions and stuff can't be used either. Such a pain.
- Event 51 (SSBM) Everyone knows about this. In Melee's event 51, you have to fight Mewtwo, Ganon, and giga bowser all at the same time. If you didn't know about the Jigglypuff trick, you were screwed
- Figuring out what to do next (Any Zelda game) Maybe this is just me, but in between dungeons, I have no idea where to go next. This is the one reason why I don't like Zelda games and I've only beaten 1 so far. It's easier to figure out where to go next in metroid games! This seems to be a problem exclusive to me.
Well, the song Give It All by Rise Against! is a fairly easy song for drums on expert. I can do the whole thing, missing only a few notes, but then the ending totally kills me. lol. It's really frustrating because I'm like "Oh, I did really well!" -outro comes- "Fuuuuu-!"
N. Episode 88, Level 4. Also known as "Mother-Thwumping Impossible". Because it is mother****ing impossible.
By far the most difficult level of the 100 episode pack from version 1.4. Statistics showed that I died approximately 1100 times before beating the level (once). In reality it took me several weeks of consistently coming back to play it, taking a few months off and trying again. I defy you to download N and play through Eps 86-89 without hurling your keyboard/laptop at the wall.
p.s. I've finished the game. After dying several thousand times. Mostly in those four eps.
Coming a distant second is:
The True Hero's Final Trial. A secret path that requires performing a certain sequence of events throughout the game leading up to it (I won't spoil how you do it, but it takes a few hours.) Basically once you beat what you thought was the final boss, you have to journey through a hellish cavern where about a million things attack you at once, the roof is caving in, and most things (including standing still) will kill you instantly, and once you pass that, you face the real final boss of the game, which is even more difficult because the final boss room is full of hostile creatures and booby traps which will... yes, kill you instantly. And most of the final boss' attacks will also kill you instantly if you get hit. If you do it quickly, you'll need to survive anywhere between 7-12 minutes. There are no savepoints once you enter the cavern. The first time I tried it, I lost an entire night of sleep to it. But just one.
Both games are platformers. Maybe I just suck at platformers. I'll also add that both games are two of the best freeware titles you will ever see.
I stuffed up: the second game I cited is actually titled Cave Story (or Doukutsu Monogatari. The "True Hero's Final Trial" is the best title I can come up with for that stage.
Campers - Nothing beats these guys when it comes to ruining another person's fun.
Newbies - The favourite pick, of almost everone. System Crash - Probably the most frustrating thing for me is when I'm in the middle of an intense battle in an FPS or just enjoying my day in Oblivion and my five year old PC overheats and shuts down. *sigh* That is really annoying.
i hate it whe you get so far on a game such as a ps3 game and you complete so many levels but then it freees and you loose EVERYTHING! many times that has happened to me
When i first started playing Blast Corps. when i was younger. When i think about it i really have no clue what i was doing just flying up and smashing things all i can think of. lol.
