i wouldn't now about that all the time i played runescape i was a member.. i never really liked smithing

smithing is only profitable in members especially "blast furnace" which halves the amount of coal used in smithing. and literally cuts the distance of smelting to smithing to 1/10th of the shortest smith routes.

Smithing never has, is or probably ever will be profitable if you want the quick routes. However, mining your own ores will bring you profit, but selling the ore as ore rather than armour is more profitable. So smithing is almost pointless.

There were attempts on the forums to get JaGEx to change that, but they're not in full command of the fluctuations in the equilibrium and making smithing profitable would basically require removal of the GE.

I know it hardly makes money, but I still do it for fun sometimes. I've been trying to get a lot of money lately though, so I haven;t leveld up in it for a while.

Well, if my memory serves me right smithing is one of the best jobs in runescape for F2P. If you're skill is high enough to smith steel bars you can sell them for 1000gp each and earn a lot of money or just smith mithril bars and earn twice as much.

I personally think that woodcut is the best. However, smithing can also be very profitable

Runecrafting doesn't make much money until your a high level. And you need to mine your own to make profit until a really high level.

fishing for lobbies is the best for free-members.

you need a high summoning level for rc as familiars tat carry essence are in the high 70s+

For free to play, I say that steel bars make good money. You have to mine 2000 coal and 1000 iron ore. To make 1000 steel bars. And 1000 steel bars make nearly 1 mil. Although mining and smithing is boring, again, it's good money and exp.
