Found Poems takes the words from another works and creates an original poem. In this case, this is a ten line poem and the first line is from a book by Elie Wiesel called Night. Night is an extremely powerful book, and I would say will soon be a classic if it isn't now.
Night is about the author's personal experiences with the Holocaust. Most of you have probably read it so I will not go into too much detail, but if you haven't I suggest you do. It is sort of like Anne Frank I suppose, but only in the sense that you either really liked it, or you thought it was extremely boring. However, I do not know many people who found this book boring, as it is not a diary, it is a reflection book, and it is not about hiding it is about what actually happened inside the notorious death camp "Auschwitz" and a few others as the prisoners were moved towards the end of the war.
So here it is, not a professional so don't bash too hard, but friendly advice is always welcome. I will not give away the symbolism put in here, but I'm sure you can figure it out.
Oh btw, the poem is put into third person, because that was part of the assignment.
"Suddenly the evidence overwhelmed him: there was no longer any reason to live, any reason to fight." And who could blame him? No more family or friends Death to him would have been better than to keep living, in hell Moving constantly to different destinations Each one as desolate as the last "Life" is nothing but hunger, he is turning into an animal Destroyed internally by his fellow man... Not even God is with him now Each new day, just a longer night.
That's cool, I'm learning about the Holocaust. Your poem makes me wonder what was really going on in the minds of the people who were in death camps. I really liked the last line though. I never thought of it that way.

Thanks for the positive feedback We learned about the Holocaust this year too in History, and this book was read for English class. Make sure you pay attention in class about it, really important stuff. Also, don't buy into the excuse for studying the Holocaust "to never let it happen again" because it has happened again since then. Just not as bad, but there were attempted genocides, one of them in Africa, can't remember the rest. There is a deeper reason to studying the Holocaust, and idk what right now. Let me know if you, or anyone else reading this can figure it out. I will think about it as well. For now, I think we study to remember the death of those 12million+ individuals, because if we ever forgot about them, there suffering would be meaningless.
I am just rambling, but yeah someone let me know if they think they know why we study the Holocaust. I am curious to your opinions
