It may not be the latest news, but it's news none the less.

Joseph Casias was fired from Wal-Mart. Casias has sinus cancer and an inoperable brain tumor. To ease his pain, he was issued a medical marijuana card, which allows him to smoke marijuana legally. Marijuana was found in Joseph's system after he took a drug test. Wal-Mart fired him.

Doesn't really matter if it's legal or not, Wal-Mart can fire who they choose.

I, personally, wouldn't want someone that smokes marijuana working for me either, even if it is legal and for medicinal purposes.

If he has cancer, why does he work in the first place? The last thing I'd want to do when I was suffering from cancer is work at Wal-Mart*.

Wal-Mart can fire who they choose.

This is true, and Wal-Mart is actually helping Mr Casias out by firing him. The way I see it, he's better off resting at home rather than working at some big store with a sinus tumor.

Medical marijuana can cause addiction, too. It's still marijuana, after all, and it's still an addictive drug.

*There are actually some things I'd want to do less than work at Wal-Mart if I had cancer, but you see my point.

Wal Mart can't act against the will of the individual. Its his decision if he wants to work or not, not Walmarts.

No its not. Marijuana is less addicting than alcohol. Its the least addictive drug while nicotine found in cigarettes are the most addictive.

If Wal-Mart fires him, it eliminates his obligation to work. It's more than just a matter of choice.

That wasn't my point at all. Yes, I realize marijuana is not extremely addictive, but I didn't say it was. All I said was that medical marijuana is just as addictive as regular marijuana. I didn't say it was more addictive than every drug out there.

Well, I'd rather hire a pot head, than a moron that fires someone for using painkillers.

...

Well anyway, I get why he fired her...for smokin' Marijuana.

Regardless of it being legal, its still Marijuana, it can still get you high
Just imagine if your greeter was came in like this

(A child and his mother walk into Wal-Mart)
Greeter:Hay lil' mon!!

Mother:Uhh-

Greeter:I got a lil' smiley sticker for just for you, juuuuusssst for lil' mon!!

Child:Mommy...

Mother:Timmy, we're getting out of here.

Word would spred, and you'd lose customers

You might aswell hire people who drink alcohol too. Just because people drink doesnt mean people go to work drunk, and the same goes for dro.

This is exactly why is not a good idea to legalize this. It will happen all the time. What happened is this guy was high, and then he hurt hisself on the job. So he wanted Wal-Mart to compensate his injuries.

If pot is legal you'll have this happen everywhere all the time. Who will pay for all of it, and besides, no one will be working cause they get injuries all the time and their just addicts!

And I am just trying to imagine it same happening to me if I had taken my migraine meds.

If Wal-Mart fires him, it eliminates his obligation to work. It's more than just a matter of choice.

To be honest, I would rather be at work in pain and have something else to think about, than sit at home in pain and think about how I am soon going to die.
