I was just minding my own business when bam! ArmorGames tells me to smoke, nice AG, nice.

Refresh your User page a few times and you might get it.

Sorry for the Extra post.

But I heard other AG'ers having this annoyance, and I finally found it. Whats with it AG, are half naked chicks smoking finally in, on a AG site where only Teens come on (Not true), sounds like somebody likes teaming up with the big cigarette companies.

Dan, your not the most popular guy right now.

1. Screwed the formatting, I'm not sure if it's your fault, but we're pointing fingers.

2. Drug Ads. (Tobacco is a drug).

Haha. There have been two threads on this.

Dan, is not responsible for those advertisements. He just lets the company put something there, and he gets payed. Now those companies are probably crazy for putting such risque adverts on a site where children come to. And I know tobacco is a drug. Alcohol is too.

So you can't put the blame on Daniel McNeely. And the formatting, that a mess of different problems. Don't blame Dan for that.

it's an ISP problem, pointing fingers doesn't help much.

2. Drug Ads. (Tobacco is a drug).

if i'm not mistaken it's the ad companies who regulate what goes on the ads.

Terms and Conditions? If you're too young and you see something you don't find appropriate it's your own fault.

I'm not pointing fingers then. Other people probably will.

He just lets the company put something there

His/their risk.

His/their risk.

You ask Carlie. They probably sign into some sort of agreement or something. I don't know how web advertising works. And ads reflect your own browsing history (the info cookies store of you) so the companies are the ones that put out the smoking ads. Arghh, do some investigation.

Well they can't put the blame on him and accuse him of things, well they should realize that he made Armor Games.

Spyware. I don't get that. Lots of Firewalls, also, the files they use don't work with Macs.

Yes spyware. Though they use tracking cookies more often.

I'm pretty sure he uses google ads which basically tracks the site users search history and shows ads based on it.

If that's true most people on here wont mind the smoking ads :P

They could build up quite a history on you through cookies even if your on a mac.

My advice:
1. Tell a mod maybe they can contact the administrator and get that single ad removed.
2. Use adblock and block that single ad.
3. Use noscript to block everything.
4. Get over it or use to it.

Thanks for getting a screen shot of it. I'll see if I can figure out what the deal is with it.

Well, if you actually click on the link (Doh!) it brings up a thing about fake cigarettes that give you nicotine without all the poisons. But I see your point, the picture looks like it wants you to smoke actual cigarettes.

Allright... now that proof is imminent and Carlie has taken notice of the advertisement, it'll probably be taken care of real quick!
And that's a real good thing if you ask me! It's not AG's fault, but it's definitley made AG's problem... :S

So this is the first time there is solid evidence (Other than witnesses) of smoking ads? Not good...

Yes, I do hope my theory of why this happens is correct:

my theory that the smoking ad has tags on it that have nothing to do with smoking (Gaming, AG, Armorgames, flash, games, users, community etc...). .

I don't know if it's right, but it seems plausible.

I also found this kinda interesting:
Still, Cenere is correct that more and more advertising is using "behavioral targeting" to show you ads related to other sites you visit.

It was in the other thread about this, and does sort of reflect on people...

Ignore it, or go have a smoke.

But that screenshot proves others were telling the truth.

Referring to Ads that you wouldn't normally find on AG.

I also saw a nice Evony ad with flashes of blue light around her boobs, why is Evony back?
