You make it sound like having thousands of spam posts makes someone a forum god.
Otherwise AG really feels the same to me I've seen bucketloads of people leave and 2*bucketloads join. Some people come here all excited and bushy tailed get on the top 100 get like 8,000 forum spam posts the burn up and go away. Though I noticed less people write good comments on games. I guess it must be that mods don't check them as much as they used to, so the urge to get merits is gone.

Yeah, if you were a Mod and went to all the poorly rated games (Ex-Dress Up) and deleted all of the Spam comments, the total count of Game comments on AG would drop atleast 25%, I think.

Being a forum god, probably includes having thousands of posts. But thousands of posts alone doesn't make you a forum god. Especially if they are all spam.

I have to agree with you. AG gets at least two million page clicks a day (checked some statistics) and even if that isn't an accurate number, it still gets a lot of visitors. Even though most of them don't bother to go to the forums, the ones that do are enough to replace the regulars that give up on this site. Oh, and these days there probably aren't as many merit worthy comments. More people spamming + slightly less people writing reviews + less mod activity = less merits from game reviews. But the urge is till here, especially when it comes to competitions. And I won't burn out. The people who burn out don't reach 8k. The only people I know who have got up to that number are still here.
I have a rate of reviews made into merits of 25%. I made 28 reviews and I have got seven merits out of those reviews. I forgot where I got me first merit.
I give out lots of them.. Though now I don't really get merits.. Oh well still made a point towards the gamdevelopers of many games on this site.
Then the answer would be that the moderators don't check much. And you cannot blame them; there is often an overwhelming amount of spam filter that out and you get the good, but not merit worthy comments and filter that out you get merit worth material. That is easier said than done. Usually the mods search for reviews when they play games they like.
Hm.. there are a few who have quit, if you look at leaderboards, I mean the leaderboards is 8k+ and a lot of those have quit.
8k posts. He was talking about people with 10k AP and 8k spam forum posts. I rarely see spammers (even the ones that aren't trolling) reach 1k. And even the regulars that spam more often, cannot be simply referred to as useless spammers, since they contribute to this site too.
For the record I've been a member longer than all you all. I just become inactive a lot. :P
As many of the 'Oldies/veterans' have gone, and I'm getting lonely.
The important changes are already mentioned. Gantic, Cenere moderators, Flipski gone, Moegreche retiring as a moderator and the upcoming AG v3. And for the opening poster, If you need to be posted on updates go to the Blog. And you can ask users if you can't find what you're looking for at the Blog or the site news on the front page.
The above. And since this as mentioned became a "I am more vet than you!!" thread of sorts, as well as "Mods don't give out merits/check the games anymore (All I say is "Now you go flag all spam in Sonny 2"" I believe it is good to lock.
