TL,DR: Did not like it.
Short Version: Interesting concept marred by wonky control schemes and little in-game hints.
Long Version: This game is an example of a great idea that didn't get tested enough by people other than the creators, prior to release.
Starting with the good, the background music was in the background and kept to the mood. Most of the sound effects were appropriate, if not inspired, although if I had closed my eyes I would have been shooting pigs, not zombies.
Visually, the game delivers exactly what it promises. Nothing truly inspirational here.
Controls, while simplistic, managed to get messed up somehow. Often times the directional keys would have the character go the opposite direction - something very bad when trying to move AWAY from zombies.
Gameplay could have been a lot better. Two or three times, the 'best' weapon to kill an enemy with was after the 2nd or 3rd encounter. Also, no matter where you are in the game, upon spawning you lose all your powerups and keys. The keys didn't hurt so much as the powerups, especially in the mid stages, where there were no upgrades for your melee weapon.
The last upgrade for the melee weapon, the katana, is strong, but the baseball bat seems to be a better choice due to damage+speed, and the several enemies that become stunned when hit with melee.
All in all, this is a good engine, and a good idea. At it's best potential as a game, it wouldn't be anything to write hosannas over, but it'd be a solid 7 or 8.
As it is, it needs a lot of work to be both playable and enjoyable. 5/10, but don't let that stop you from working on more games.
