He's in the top 10 but I would put him behind Danny Carey (Tool) and Carter Beauford (Dave Matthews Band) my favorites. And according to Rolling Stone's top 100 drummers, Mike Portnoy is $8 =P It's all opinion.
there music is good (aftterlife, bat country, blinded in chains, almost easy) but they arent a metal band so dont get it mixed up
I didn't...I just like heavier music and they aren't my genre so I said: I don't like them cause they aren't my genre =P
dont take offense but i shouted "WHAT?!" when i saw this. lol sorry, but MP is better then rolling stone thinks there retarded sometimes. theyve gone down hill since the 90's.
among my fellow drummers in colorado we have made this list.
1 currently. mike portnoy *dream theater* 2 currently. neil pert *rush* 3 soon to be number within the next 10 years. thomas pridgen *ex-mars volta* 4.buddy rich *buddy rich jazz* 5.keith moon *the who* 8.tim alexander (debatable) *primus* 9.carl palmer (debatable) *king crimson/emerson lake and palmer 10.carter beauford *dave matthew band*
You are right kirby1243, and listen, people may say that "they aren't hardcore enough" and stuff like that but I don't see anyone saying "When will the Gorrillaz pick a genre?". It's the sound, not the genre that matters. P.S.- Do not worry, I am not a poser, but I do have a varied taste in music, as long as it is some form of rock.
