He was posting videos on YouTube for his relatives to see when they couldn't attend his performances. A marketing executive saw the videos and signed him to a label. Whether he was doing good or not wasn't the point, although as far as I can tell, his "erformances" were school singing competitions etc., not giant arena concerts (duh).
justin bieber never exactly claimed to be gangster so where does an average joe like yourself get off putting words in his mouth. im not saying i listen to him nor do i respectt, but hey i dont know the kid.
Have you SEEN some of the kid's videos? They come complete with rap slang, "gangsta" kids and silly hand signs.
