haha congrats darkling, I would love to go to Japan, ofcourse I would need to japanese because I don't wanna be the idiot waking around with a elnglish to japanese dictionary.
Some things interest me about going to Japan I'd love to visit the older parts of it especially the temples etc. they always look beautiful in photos. I'm not fussed about Tokyo because, whereas some cities have nice nicknames like the Big Apple or the Chocolate City, one of Tokyo's nicknames is 'the City Waiting to Die' cos of the Earthquake threats..... I normally don't worry about natural disasters (I live in the North of England geographically all I worry about is rain) lewl plus I'm rubbish at languages I fail quite badly at French and German etc.a nd they use a Latin alphabet I dread to think how I would attempt a Japanese alphabetic* language.
I would love to go to Japan. I love thier culture, I find it facinating. I took a semester of Japanese, so I know the basics. I would want to take more before I go though. One of the people that was in my class, I do believe he actually moved there...
she said that she got a soup with a fish swimming in it.... eww. no offense
How sad.
I would of taken Japansese at my school Pazx, but I arrived to late. I must also say you look like an anime addict. It frightens me.
I would prefer to go to Japan to investigate the culture and history, more than the anime and manga. They are cool though, and the technology is too.
*yeah I made it up :P
You were close. Alphabetic writing system. Or script. Learning a different script is quite hard indeed, that's why sticking to Latin alphabet languages is convenient. Just have to learn some extra glyphs. (diacritics etc.)
Let us know more about your friend's experience. I need to know before I ever go to the Land of the Rising Sun. I think the old flag was good. Too bad WWII put it out of use.
