Every so often there are movie crazes. They go from single movies to series of movies. Here are a few examples of Movie Crazes. (Avatar is not a Movie craze, it's too new, and it's a one-time only see.

Wizard of 'Oz - 1936-1970's
We all we've seen this movie, but it had a definite Craze, and the line 'We're not in Kansas anymore' is still used today! And this movie was first made in 1939, with better quality productions still made today.

Titanic - 1997-2007
About three years ago this was still one of the most talked about and liked movies. This movie is still the highest grossing movie if you translate the dollar value to today. Almost everybody has seen this movie.

Lord of The Rings Trilogy - 2001-2003-2008
They worked on these movies at the same time, which is very unique so they can release one movie per year. This is still the geeks favorite movie, probably surpassing Star Wars.

Star Wars - 1999-2005-2003
These movies made even the most hard core geeks masturbate to it. These movies made the sci-fi era come to life again after Star Trek. And were the turning point of fantasy/Sci-fi, why else would Star Trek make so much money (Well, besides the old nerds).

Star Trek - 1966-1980-2009
Star Trek, even though I thought they all sucked, was one of the turning points of the TV/Movie Era. And We've all seen at least 15 minutes of Star Trek, and plenty of people saw Star Trek for the first time in 2009. Season one was arguably the worst season ever of Star Trek, but I hate all of the TV series.

So very wrong. The hardcore nerds hated the star wars movies that came out in the 2000s. Almost anyone who enjoyed the original movies hated episodes 1-3 because they were so much worse than 4-6. Episodes 1-3 were a turning point of nothing. I would agree somewhat if this were about the originals. Also, the true nerds are trekkies.

First of all, Star Trek is arguably the greatest Sci-Fi television series ever created. Second, There were 5 first seasons to 5 different Star trek series. I believe you mean The Original Series. I'm a fan of The Next Generation, myself, and I never really cared for TOS, but I know for a fact that Enterprise was the worst Star Trek series, not The Original Series.

Now to talk about movie crazes.

The Godfather 1972-1974-1990
The Godfather is considered by many critics as the greatest movie trilogy ever created. If you look at any list of top 25 movies of all time, you'll find either The Godfather part I or II if not both on there.

I feel really left out... I have never seen any of The Godfather movies.

I was going to say 4-6, but then I just remembered the pictures of long lines for Episode 1&2 and put them in there. I have 4-6, and they are obviously much better than 1-2. Who hasn't wanted to choke Jar-Jar Binks?!

I've seen them all. part 1 and 2 were great. part 3 was good, but not nearly as good as 1&2.

The long lines were due to the success of 4-6. also if you adjust for inflation, you will find that 4-6 all made more money than 1-3.

Isn't that because Star Wars Episode 1-2 were all written by George Lucas? And it doesn't surprise me that 4-6 made more money. Although those stupid monkey things in Episode 6 were just as annoying as Jar-Jar Binks.

All of the movies were directed by George Lucas.

Obviously, but episodes 1-2 were actually written by George Lucas. How could he make Lord of the Rings so good throughout it all, then screw up Star Wars...

twilight movies

Only applies to girls age 12-17. And not really a craze to anyone else.

Avatar - 2009 -

I will answer this quote with a quote

(Avatar is not a Movie craze, it's too new, and it's a one-time only see.)

You're missing comedy movies...

I mean, how is Monty Python and the Search for the Holy Grail not on that list? That is probably one of the most quoted movies of all time.

Sure, it's quoted. But there was really no huge craze for Monty Python. It's very popular among a few groups of people, but people aren't watching it over and over.

Oh yes they are. Everyone who's anyone has seen Monty Python and the Holy Grail. It's probably one of the most quoted movie ever. Also Borat is another big one for comedy.
