if you have a new unread comment, next to your name and everthing (to the left) maybe you could add like a green or bright red notice box saying how many comments are new. that would be nice
You could keep your email in another tab, enable mails for comments, and hope your email host is smart enough to go "1 unread" in the title of the tab (Yahoo does this, for one). Otherwise, wait and see for version 3.
