If we look back in time there was once a time when you played Nintendo or Sega. And as we all recall Sega pulled out of the console business when they got a new CEO, but... IF Sega had continued to make consoles past the Dreamcast(which I still have and play from time to time) would anyone even really consider it in today's market. The Wii, PS3 and Xbox360 are all held in high regard due to their background, but Sega helped pioneer the gaming business back in the 90s. Could they make it in today's ultra competitive market? And would the younger crowd of kids who are growing up on the Wii, PS3 and 360 even know who Sega is? Just curious what you guys thing out there. Let me know =)

I still have and play a Sega Genesis from '92, and I think if they make a new system it would sell. Early on it would probably only sell to those who played genesis or dreamcast, but it might catch on. Younger kids might not know them as a console maker, but they would know the name as they still have a hand in some games.

Sega had to exit the business because of those costly defeats and because of the pressure put on it by other makers. Not only because of its new chairman's position. Seeing how Sega was in a precarious position back then, I don't blame them too much for pulling out. I'd say if they went back into the business, they could pull it off but looking at the position of the market right now, it doesn't look like it'd be a good idea to do so now. Younger kids know what Sega is, but they don't recognize it as a console maker. The Dreamcast is awesome by the way. I'd like to see Sega going back to consoles, sometime in the future. The future.
