Should users be awarded with AP if their threads are a success? I'm not talking 10 points here, but hundreds, even thousands of responses deserve rewards in my opinion. Not in debate forums, but games and such.

Why should they? Should they really get AP because they got lucky and started a thread that became really popular? Plus, most of those who start good threads aren't those who are that interested in AP. And why not in debate forums? Why just games? In my opinion, a thread with a thousand replies in WEPR is worth 20 with 10,000 replies in Forum Games.

Well, users who make good threads already are rewarded with good repute. I don't see the need really. Maybe a mention somewhere, I dunno.

No.

Because amount of responses does not indicate a good thread. It just indicates ones that people repost in several times because of mundane reasons.

Besides, people will more often start random threads in the hope those get popular.

Yeah, but I mean those could be easily discerned and warned. Give me an example of one huge thread that isn't a good idea.

Count to 100. Battle of the Bands. xbox360 vs. Wii vs. Playstation 3. Any class thread in the old 'Sonny 2' forum.
