Hi I've made this thread so nobody will ask it again. I'm pretty sure that this is all not in the help section, but users might need it.
This information was not from me, It was from other people and I just compiled it. Look at the username besides the 'answer' word to know who answered the question. For the one who was asking the questions, some are mine and others were from other posts.
If I broke a rule (like double posting or something/ Copying others content) I would like to apologize. But to think about it, I am not really, I just want other people who might get questions like these to not post these threads again. It would be much better too if this gets a sticky and/or be put in the help section
Question What is the place where you can ask questions about the site? Support and Suggestions Need help with the site? Have a suggestion? Post it here. Newcomers Forum New to the site? Ask questions and introduce yourselves here!
People might get confused. So where do you really put questions?
ANSWER-Cenere
Usually it can go whereever, considering people are ready to answer the questions either way. I have seen them both places, and when a question has been answered, it is just locking the thread and move on. On a more official basis, questions regarding newbie stuff (how to get an armatar, what AP is, how to fave a game) should go in the Newcomer's section, while questions regarding more specific and less - newbie-ish questions could go either way. Most of the questions going to the S'n'S are about games not working, why a section is there/not there, why games disappear, and other things that can be thought of as glitch-listing or otherwise time and place specific questions. It is like the people believing that the Tavern is for EVERYTHING, which is why they post stories, games and so forth here, when in fact this section is for stuff that does not fit everywhere else. Section-confusion is a general problem. Now I wonder why you keep asking these questions...
Question Are we free to write walkthroughs of game not on the site, or games which are not flash?
Answer-Cenere
If you write a walkthrough that is not related to a game that is submitted to AG, you should place it in the Flash Game section. The Walkthrough section is for walkthroughs for "our" games only, to make it easier to find. And that section needs a cleaning > >; If you write a walkthrough for a video games, it should be places in the Video Games section, along with any other non-flash games (not counting board games, sports or any other games of that kind, of course. Just console games).
Question My question is simple. What is an OP?
Answer-Cenere Opening post. Opening poster (the one that made the opening post). The first post in a thread, or the person that made it.
Questions I really think this would help as,say you looking for a friend its really hard to find them.My friend funkeymonkey only found me as I post on the forum.I think this would really help.
Answer-Healmeal If you ever search someone, go to http://armorgames.com/user/[Username here] That brings you to his profile page.
Question What can a moderator on AG do? Can he lock entire threads? ( like the tavern ) Can he lock all the threads in AG in a single button click? Can he Edit MY post?!?! Can he edit his own post? Can he edit MY about? Ect. Ect. I want to know everyone a mod can do that normal players can not.
Answer - Cerene The Tavern is a forum section. A thread is a topic like this one. What we can and cannot do is a secret of trade, but I am going to say that NO, we cannot edit posts, not our own, nor yours. At least not in the sense that you are suggesting. It would be nice to be able to, though, and we are mostly for that suggestion, whenever it comes up. We just keep in mind that it could be used for the worse instead of the better.
The questions you've posed and answered could just be added to the ArmorGames FAQ. Then, per your request, adding the Armorgame FAQ into more sections.
Yes?
Also note, I and Cenere are working on reformatting and cleaning up the stickies. I agree that something needs to be done.
I actually think all but the "How to find a username" is included in the would-be-updated sticky. And we really do need a good description of the sections.
Oh, sorry 'bout that I was playing trickhochet for awhile, but know I'm back.
Yeah I really think that sections should have a better descrition, and the pointless threads in the tavern be deleted and APs 'refunded'
New users might get lost in the sections' description. Its title explains almost everything, but then again that little description on the bottom would explain more.
I think specially the tavern's description should be changed.
Oh and I have another question. Do you just lock threads? Why not think of deleting it?
Deleting = loss of AP for everyone who posted in it. A thread might be derailed horribly, but that doesn't mean the honest people should be punished for people who will get their posts deleted anyway. Besides, if they are deleted, you couldn't read the reply either. (and people will go moan about their thread being deleted for "no reason", because the evidence is basically lost, even if there was good reason for deleting it) It might be interesting as well to read through some of the older threads, locked or not, and see what has been discussed.
Generally, if a topic can be found on the latest 3 pages/last week or so, you should probably just revive that. If you don't know you are repeating a topic, some people are most likely to tell you the moment you post.
On another note: Unless it is very clear that there is another thread like the one you are making, it is often better to start over than search for a topic through the pages (besides the three pages or so considering the section), as you start from a clean slate, and don't end up necroing a thread because you want people's opinion on the topic.
