I'm still in favour of fight pits - Put all the prisoners on death row in a big coliseum-style arena and let them duke it out to the death. The victor gains freedom.

agree but not freedom but lets say life in a cushier prison

Fair enough. I shall get rid of freedom.

Did you not realise the irony of being punished by society for the killing of someone, and then being offered the reward of freedom for the killing of someone?

Meh, there is a difference between killing and murder - killing can bring justice - murder defies justice.

I hardly see how gladiatorial style combat between convicted murderers is anything close to justice. Especially not since the winner is offered a reward. Given any thought to how the relatives of the victim would feel if they found out the killer got transfered to a cushier prison because he killed another prisoner in an arena?

If you had 10-15 prisoners in a death match then justice is performed - there are 9-14 less prisoners to worry about and justice takes many forms.

And yet the fact remains, there are 1-6 murderers who are rewarded for killing again.

justice takes many forms.

Clearly. I can only say I am thankful your take on the concept isn't shared by the sane in society.

that's incredibly biased no,sane society also likes the death penalty but some disagree because they think "every single little teeny life is precious even if they enjoy killing others"

Please share with us on what grounds you think pitting murderers against each other is logically sound given the ethical contstraints of society.

So the reason you think we should use displays of barbarity among murderers is to uphold volence and toughness as virtues for the general populace.

Please think these things through.

I don't see how the condoning of such a bloodthirsty spectacle would do anything less. Considering people readily stab and beat each other to death over the result of a football game, thinking that there would be no societal consequences from the broadcasting of battle royales seems hopelessley naive.
