Merits are rewarded by moderators or admins on this site, if they find your game review/critique to be worth the reward. It will make your comment bold, so it is easier to see, so at the same time as 25ap is rewarded, your comment with be featured in a way. As mentioned, the second way is to win one of the contest in the AMW, that rewards a merit. When winning, you go ask a mod for the merit, along with posting a link to the judgement.
