guess what, XSilentPhantomX is opening up another make-you-think type of thread! yay!! :P anyways, what if fiction becomes reality?

What if all our stories, end of the world scenarios, plagues, disasters came true? do you ever think of what would happen? what if the world did somehow begin to fall apart around us? and there's nothing you can do? how do you defend yourself, your family? how can you know that the zombie horror stories we read don't come true, and any second something could happen. we pass off terrible mythical creatures as a myth, but don't you ever think of those creatures when you find yourself alone in the dark?

is the reality of it that we must be aware that anything can happen at anytime? or is the reality if it having the feeling of being secure that nothing like that could ever happen? is fantasy the products of imagination, or a theory? Can we ever be certain that no fiction elemnts will ever come to be reality?

What's telling you that your life isn't just a book?

Good movie: Stranger than Fiction deals right with this matter.

It's a good movie, but a total chick flick.

Anyways, that would be awful. Or epic. Depending on your position in the story and how you're destined to die.

Hmm, but then we would be amidst a paradoxal scenario. Because many legends have the world ending in many different ways. One would have to come out on top and yet the others are also reality, it wouldn't work - would it?

Much of what now exists was thought impossible only a few decades ago, so technically, fiction is quickly becoming reality.

For the sake of clarity, would you care to elaborate on that statement? I have no idea what you meant by that and therefore assume that others won't either.

It would be (and is) kind of weird. The idea that fiction could become a reality is not that far fetched... dependin on what type of fiction you are referring to.

i was kinda trying to lean this thread towards the more dark side of fiction...

how do we know while were out in public, a zombie could grab us? or if were in the woods in the dark at night, how do you know some massive creature wont kill you in horrible ways? how can you be sure? does that mean you have to live your life on edge? or be confident, that none of those things could happen?

I totally agree Termi. I think that if we say something is impossible, then someone is bound to try it out, and next thing we know, we'll have magic! or something.
