>>On this topic please post your preferences on Modern Warfare 2 and Halo 3. Post why you like one better than the other>> I prefer Modern Warfare 2 because of the graphics and ability to create classes. I preffer Halo because there are not many noob tubers and hackers.
1. Modern Warfare 2 is horrible. No need to explain, I'm sure someone else (the MAG fan who's name is hard to remember) will explain in more detail.
2. Only played Halo 3 a bit. 360 exclusive means I can only play it at friends' houses. Overall, I suppose I did enjoy it, not as much as Halo: Combat Evolved, but it was still a pretty nice game. It was better than Modern Warfare 2, because as aforementioned Modern Warfare 2 should be stolen, burnt, crushed, stabbed, melted, frozen and then buried in Antartica.
I enjoy Modern Warfare 2 more because, past the campers, moders, and noob tubers, it is honestly more fast paced and fun. In Halo, it can be so much easier for your target to limp away and heal, therefore losing your kill, where as Modern Warfare makes it a lot harder to survive, and with the weapon attachments, you get a lot more out of the game.
I enjoy both games although I'd have to say I like Modern Warfare 2 better. Don't get me wrong, I still LOVE Halo 3. But there are two major things about Halo I don't care for... One being no running. Two being that you have to hold the analog stick to crouch. Skill wise I think Halo is harder because it's not a One shot kill with any weapon (Excluding: Sniper Headshot, Spartan Laser, Rocket Launcher, or if someone is already hurt.) Modern Warfare to on the other hand, you can kill someone in a matter of seconds with any gun. I enjoy Mw2 more because of the run capability, more variety of guns, killstreaks, emblems and callsigns, and gun attachments such as FMJ, Red Dot Sight, Thermal Sight. So basically in the end, Halo is a great game but Mw2 is better... But this may change after the release of Halo: Reach. But at the moment. Modern Warfare 2 > Halo
Even the original Call of Duty? Call of Duty 1? And you still prefer Call of Duty MW2? Wha-? Impossible!
moders
Do you mean a modding community or people using modded controllers? A modding community is a good thing and Modern Warfare 2 really needs one (even the console is locked >.>. I don't really care about modded controllers because you don't get them on PC.
where as Modern Warfare makes it a lot harder to survive
Not necessarily because there's a huge difference in health between both games, simply the unbalance in weapon damage (and the unrealisticness of the weapon damage) makes it difficult to survive, which is certainly a downfall.
halo heath system
Which Halo? Halo: Combat Evolved had a proper health system, which was the health bar. Your health could be replenished by picking up health packs. That's the correct way to play. And Halo 3s system is complex but certainly not bad. Haven't played any of the Halos past 3 (only Combat Evolved, 2 and 3) so I couldn't judge ODST.
Elite I see what you're getting at, but as far as the moders thing goes that was referenced primarily to mod controls, and the health system you are referring to is definitely my big turn off for Halo. Having a shield that makes attacks more survivable just gets in the way of good game play and paves the way for the great and experienced players to trample all the new players. With MW2, the health system is a bit more balanced, finding that everyone can much more easily kill each other, so even a seasoned veteran can be taken down by a new players lucky shot. Also, concerning the unrealistic weapon damage, I find that MW2 makes things a bit more balanced than Halo, seeing as how (even with different damage for every weapon) Halo still makes many weapons over powered where as MW2 makes the more powered weapons (such as the FAL, which is given a semi-auto instead of auto fire, much like CoD4's G3) a bit more even with things such as the aforementioned semi-auto instead of full-auto weapons.
Having a shield that makes attacks more survivable
The shield regenerates quickly after avoiding damage for a little while? You could argue that that's a replica of the Modern Warfare's health system. Therefore we could see these results in both games. I can understand that you have health points after your shield, which is a feature that Modern Warfare 1 and 2 does not have, but the health and shield is implemented in so many games, it's almost strange that it's not in an FPS.
and paves the way for the great and experienced players to trample all the new players.
That is how the game should be. Skill should be your key to victory and your chances of winning are correlated with the time you've spent on the game (or games of a similar genre). Your skill should reflect how able you are and how much you win.
MW2 makes the more powered weapons (such as the FAL, which is given a semi-auto instead of auto fire, much like CoD4's G3) a bit more even with things such as the aforementioned semi-auto instead of full-auto weapons.
You see the FAL win in battles because it can be fired like a full auto weapon. When I make an argument in regards to the unbalance of weapon damage, the comment is in regards to the majority of secondary arms which means there's completely no point in the primary arms and it should be vice versa. The assault rifle is weaker than a machine pistol that looks like a 1980s mobile phone and a tactical knife will kill faster than a sniper.
Two being that you have to hold the analog stick to crouch.
No you don't. Start -> Settings -> Controls -> Crouch toggle (or something like that).
Anyways, I have both games and I think they're both great. MW2 has custom classes, perks, different maps, etc. Whereas Halo 3 has alien weaponry, visible health system, beautiful graphics, social playlists, custom game types, etc. I also like the MW2 controls a lot more.
Modern Warfare 2 is probably the most amazing FPS I've ever experienced. It has a complex storyline, challenging levels, and intense battles. You have your nose to the grindstone at all times, and there are bullets flying at you all the time. Now, forgive me, but in my opinion, all the Halo games are the same thing: "Oh no, we're getting the crap kicked outta us! Oh, look! It's a Spartan, we're saved!" at which point you pretty much go around shooting aliens that aren't usually very difficult to kill. While multi-player Halo presents a challenge of its own, MW2 has all the elements I look for in a game like this, and so many more in both single- and multi-player. MW2 makes me think critically - it makes me think of how I should handle a certain part of the game, such as the first level/part when Russians invade America. That one made me think and also had the urgency to force me to think fast. The first level you play as Roach, where you infiltrate the snow base, provided a high-tension, nerve-wracking experience where I was sitting in one spot (under a wooden deck, mind you) and had to shoot every one of the surrounding soldiers, one by one, in a way that I didn't get spotted. I almost was spotted and killed (he looked right at me and started to move), and I had to kill the guy who saw me before he did anything bad.
Here is the average set of thoughts that goes on: How am I going to get through this part? Do I just rush with a machine gun, or do I stand back and pick people off? Is it worth throwing a grenade over there? What kind would be best? Oh, crap! I didn't notice them! Fire fire fire! Ok, now what? APC, APC! HIDE!
So, in short, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 will be my favorite. I also can't wait for CoD: Black Ops to come out (I've seen the trailer, and it's AMAZING). I hope it will have as complex and intricate a storyline as MW and MW2 did.
The only thing halo 3 beats cod on is forge custom games and the co op campaign the only decent matchmaking is team swat because the health is alot less so i was mw2 wins with custom classes more weps decent health titles and emblems and lots of other stuff and tbh black ops isnt very appealing to me but i am still willing to try it
i like the halo campaign better than mw2 but for online i have to say that mw2 owns, still think they should bring the good old mp5 classic from cod4, so much better then any other gun on mw2
