I've always wondered why people don't rickroll people in real life. Here's how I imagine it would go:
You go up to a friend and say something like "I really need to talk to you. It's very important."
And they say something like "ok..."
Then you go: "You're going to want to sit down for this. I've put off telling you for so long... But you deserve to know. I probably should tell you this in a more private location, but it can't wait any longer. I can't keep living this lie. I'm... I'm... (this is where you stand up) NEVER GONNA GIVE YOU UP! NEVER GONNA LET YOU DOWN!"

I actually tried to rick-roll my friend irl without a computer, she had never even heard of Rick Astley, or seen the videos, so she thought I wrote a song for her...
Long story short, I wouldn't recommend it, besides, you can easily piss people off by playing something like that as importantly as you did in your example.

Obviously you would only do this to people who have a sense of humour, and are familiar with internet memes. Also, I'm not nearly good enough of an actor to pull off the lead-in convinicingly, so anyone intelligent would know that it's a joke from the begginig.
