I'm a big fan of the first two "Alien" movies and they are also some pretty famous movies, and I was wondering what the rest of the world thought about them. Post what you liked about the movies, what they could have done better, who your favourite characters were, which of the two you liked better, alien design, etc.
Along with the regular Armour Games rules about the forums, I just want to establish a few of my own guidelines 1. This thread is about the first two "Alien" Movies, ("Alien" and "Aliens" 2. Please try to avoid posting about "Alien 3" and "Alien Ressurection", as they aren't entirely classics. If you disagree, create your own thread about them. 3. Do not post about "Alien vs. Predator" and "Alien vs. Predator Requim", as that is NOT what this thread is about.
Those and the usual Armour Games rules are the only things to look out for while posting. Thanks!
I'm a big fan of both of them. I think they are iconic and paramount for establishing the 'kick-butt woman' persona that a lot of movies have followed today. I also appreciate the references and inspiration that the series has provided for video games, kind of like how Starcraft is pretty much based off the three races in the Alien universe. Also, it helped start the space marine genre of game and movie. Come to think of it, Halo did the same thing with the three races as well.
I like the second one a lot better than the fist though. It's more of a thriller-action movie than just horror like the first. I wish they'd make more movies with marines, with the same spirit but newer CGI and technology today. They should totally keep the 7 foot tall Kenyans to play aliens though like in the first one. Sometimes all the CGI in the world won't replace a decent movie monster in a suit. (Like I Am Legend)
I think my favorite part of the first one was at the end where the audience and Ripley herself think it's over, but lo and behold. They did that before the whole 'it's over but not really' trope became cliche. My favorite part of the 2nd was Bishops 'knife trick' and general awesome space marine action.
I liked the first one more than the second one it was fresh and intresting but the second one felt like it was doing it all for the action and felt cheesy to me.
I also never really liked Ripleys character in the first two.

Yeah Bishop was also he was the best thing in aliens it's funny how a robot has more personallity and is more intresting than the rest of all the cast(except the aliens) in the entire second movie.
HaHaHa, The first time I saw Alien was '84, on cable. Stormy night with lots of lightning and I was totally immersed until the baby alien pops out. I had to force myself to watch the rest of it but Sigourney Weaver did such a great job, I figured if she could act through it I could at least watch it. I actually preferred the second one,"Aliens" because the alien,"mother" was so scary and of course I saw this at the theater, huge difference.
I saw Aliens before I saw Alien, mainly because I wasn't born yet when the latter came out. But I remember seeing Aliens for the first time it freaked me out but I also loved it. So when I realized it was a sequel I immediately wanted to see Alien. To this day I still enjoy Aliens more than Alien. Plus, the action figures for Aliens were cool
